MSG bad rap - used very sparingly it works for me.
MSG is a naturally-occurring thing, and for a person restricting their sodium I have found it useful to add to some soups and sauces (in very small amounts), due to its lower sodium content by weight than table salt. (check it out). It's not for everyone, I get that, and I wouldn't put it in a food which will be served to people I don't know are OK with it.I have read some disturbing things about it since I first wrote this review, but I use so little of it, I won't worry more than I do about bicycling in my city's air pollution, having moderate alcohol, occasional second-hand smoke, constant noise pollution, NSAIDs, fluoride in water, cell phone radiation, etc."Umami" flavorings are currently trendy and expensive -- a small tube for $3 at Trader Joe's -- but to me it's just MSG by another name. The acronym is ugly, "MSG". Sounds like LSD or DDT maybe. But using table salt is "adding NaCl" to one's food; sounds bad put that way.Wine has sulfites, caffeine is "a CNS stimulant of the methylxanthine class".Anything with the word "sodium" is worth scrutinizing, and I'm glad I've become aware of what I put in my body.Anyway I've read that MSG is in corn, beets, seaweed, tomatoes and quite a few foods, so even if not listed explicitly, it occurs naturally. For me, a little added now and then works fine.

MSG Rocks!!!!!
MSG gets such a bad rap but it is simply a great seasoning that is better than plain old salt. I use it anywhere I would use normal salt for that savory umani flavor. Love it in dips, on popcorn, to flavor a roast. It's great on anything and this particular brand is great. Get some, do an internet search on MSG and it's misconceptions. Watch the episode of Adam Ruins Everything about MSG, it will open your eyes to a wonderful new seasoning.

I put MSG on so much stuff. I don't have hang ups about it. The Japanese consume a lot of it and they're generally the healthiest people on the planet, so I refuse to accept it's poison or whatever. This is MSG from a reputable Japanese company. You get a lot of it and it's cheap. Buying MSG in a smaller salt shaker container at the grocery store is expensive. I've bought MSG in bulk from another company and that was a good value too. I don't think there's any difference in taste (I've tried both right out of the container). If you like MSG and use a lot of it, this is the best option I've found.

MSG-g-g-grrreat!!!
Don’t believe the hype. MSG is the absolute bomb! I used to have this all the time when I lived in Brasil and couldn’t believe how hard it was to find in the US when I moved here. Eat it!

food flavoring to the max!
gives any food that savory and tasty flavor! we use it instead of salt and my kids love it! my husband grew up eating MSG (he is of Asian descent ) and he always wanted me to try this. well after buying a bag a few weeks back and ended up loving the taste! we have this on a monthly "to buy" list. my kids love hash browns. i sprinkle some msg on the hash and it just gives the potato that flavor thats hard to describe! in a good way.

Adds a nice almost meat like flavor to things
High quality MSG for those who know it's not dangerous. I did find it cheaper at Walmart later though.Adds a nice almost meat like flavor to things.

MSG Ain't Bad, and It Makes Your Food Better!
My partner and I are scientists (ok ok, she's an actual chemical engineer and I'm a social scientist), and we reviewed the research on MSG, and it isn't so bad for you as they say!I decided I wanted to start experimenting with MSG, so I went for this one. Sprinkle some on your meats, sprinkle some on your veggies, it just makes all flavors POP!I'm going to buy my second bag soon!
