Your Perfect Everyday Companion: The Old Timer 3OT Bearhead Pocket Knife!
I recently picked up the Old Timer 3OT Bearhead Traditional Lockback Pocket Knife from Amazon, and I have to say, it’s fantastic! The shipping was lightning fast—just 2 days—so I was able to start using it right away. This little knife is perfect for everyday carry. It’s small and well-built, making it super convenient to slip into my pocket. The sharp blade slices through everything with ease, and the smooth operation is just a joy to experience. You can really feel the quality in every detail. Honestly, I can’t think of any downsides! If you’re looking for a reliable, compact knife, this one is it. I would definitely purchase it again without hesitation. If you're on the fence about it, trust me, you won't regret adding this little gem to your collection!

Great quality
Nice pocket knife, bought for 10 year old grandson, thought the size would be good for him to hold onto.

Great pocket knife
Do not like seeing made in China. I have an identical knife that I bought a number of years ago made in USA. Quality carbon steel blade construction is similar to the old one and the price is very good. Still a quality Schrade product. I would buy again. Closed length is close to 3" making the perfect pocket knife - very portable. Easy to use with a quality lockback safety feature. The carbon steel blade holds a sharp edge well. Price & quality for under $20. Dollar for dollar you cant go wrong. If you loose it or leave it no big deal. Luv this knife. I paid less than $16 with tax - good deal. Other reviewers stated the edges to be sharp - unfinished. I found this to be the same on mine as well. I cleaned up edges with a sharpening stone/steel 5- minutes nice and smooth to handle now. It’s my daily carry.

Cheap? Yes. Junk? No.
As I have said in my other knife reviews, I have owned many folders over a period of 30+ years. All price ranges, styles, manufacturers and countries of origin. This particular knife I purchased in 1993 at a Walmart when it was made in the USA out of high carbon steel and green delrin scales. I used it on many jobsites in construction and beat the tar out of it cutting plastic lumber straps, rope, even using the spine side to cut sandpaper. That knife never failed me. Long since lost, I mainly purchased this version for nostalgia. I give it four stars because I have not owned it long enough to speak to its durability. Here are my initial observations. I have seen some say the handle rivets are not flush. This is not entirely true. Three are not but the one where you place your thumb is very flush. So no issue there. Yes the knife came with a scuff or two on the bolsters. For a 14 dollar knife that's not a deal breaker. The delrin scales are just fine. The bolsters are not flush to the scales but only slightly off and not sharp so that wont be an issue with light tasks. Now to the blade and action. The blade is of course no longer high carbon steel but Schrade's proprietary stainless. The out of box sharpness was acceptable for immediate use. I have some experience with this steel and if you use a fine ceramic bar or sharpening system its gets very, very sharp and holds an edge ok. Will still require minor sharpening occasionally to stay super sharp. I used a fine ceramic rod on mine for five minutes and it's a razor. The action is very stiff and rough initially. Again, for a 14 dollar knife not a deal breaker. My Case and Buck knives have come just as rough and they cost much more. A little oil on the joint, a towel, a beer and a good movie on you can clean the joint and smooth out the action in time. Simple. I applied three treatments and worked the action while cleaning and mine is pretty smooth now after a couple hours. So in conclusion, if you are buying this knife for its intended use which is lighter tasks such as cutting small items, opening packaging, light kitchen duty or even minor whittling it's very acceptable. Is it the same Old Timer I owned in '93? Of course not. Is it worth 14 dollars? I think so. If I see any other issues in the future I will update. At this point I recommend this knife at four stars for affordability, intended function and nostalgia .Sure brings back fond memories for me. If you are attracted to this knife I say buy it. If its a dud you can always return it.

Fantastic!!! Really nice lock up!!! The design is the way a lock blade should be as far as I’m concerned!!! You can’t go wrong with old timer knives!!! Excellent choice for everyday carry!!! Christmas is coming and these would make incredible stocking stuffers!!! Opens really well!!! Do be careful though, this little guy is really sharp!!! The way a knife should be!!!
