I just recently used it once and toe to heel stretch went very well. I used it again about a month later and tried to use the width feature and it didn't go so well. The knob just kept spinning. I finally had time to see what the problem was and it looks like the threads just won't engage onto the gadget inside of the wooden part. I don't have the best vision. but it actually looks worn put. Wish I tried it sooner so I could return it and not feel like I got taken for a spin. ;(

This shoe stretcher was completely useless. I ordered the size that corresponded to my shoe size but it was far too big and I couldn't get it inside the shoe - even at the smallest setting.And it was defective. I was hoping that I could still open it up and stretch the vamp area of the shoe, but It would not open up.This is far more expensive than other shoe stretchers on Amazon - sometimes double or triple the price of other brands. I was expecting much better for the price. But in this case, YOU DON'T GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.Fortunately, the return was fast and easy. I've lost nothing except the time I spent repacking it and sending it back.

I ordered the women's medium size 7 - 9 stretcher because I wear size 7.5 shoes. Well, it turns out that I cannot get the stretcher into the size 7.5 pair of shoes I wanted to stretch. The stretcher is too big at even it's smallest setting. It won't even fit into size 7.5 shoes that don't need to be stretched. The next size down for women is listed as being for size 3.5 - 6.5. Looks like I'm stuck.

I have a wide foot with high instep and a bunion, so I have a lot of trouble finding shoes that fit. This stretcher really works for me. After having no luck having my shoes stretched at the shoe shop, I've adjusted 3 pairs of AE shoes with it and love it. It's like having a cobbler in the house. Now I see why taking shoes to be stretched at the shop doesn't work so well. The stretch has to be applied fairly precisely where the shoe pinches and hurts. With this I can move the buttons around to the exact spots that hurt and get that little extra room that I need. With a little heat, patience and persistence I get shoes that are comfortable. This stretcher is absolutely solid and well made and the fit and finish is excellent. I can't imagine it ever breaking. Yes, the extra buttons have come in handy. No, having only one stretcher hasn't been an issue. I don't know about the plastic stretchers, but I went for the wood in case I had to add a hole. I went with the best and am happy I did. It's a pleasure to use and now my shoes fit! One tip I'll pass on is heat helps the leather stretch. A blow dryer or setting the shoe next to the heater while it's stretching works great. I will not remember the extra $20 I spent on this, but every time I wear my comfortable shoes I'm happy.

Great product! Everyone talks about the build quality and durability which is great so I'll avoid giving you the same information. I'm glad I spent a little more money on a superior product. After stretching my first pair of boots I couldn't be happier. I purchase a pair of shoes that were very tight (unwearable) but after stretching the length and width I'm able to wear them comfortably. My BIGGEST concern wasn't if this stretcher work, but how much would it stretch my shoes? I accidentally bought a 9.5 pair of shoes when I wear a men's 10.5 - 11. After using the stretcher once it turned my 9.5 into a 10.5. Thank God! If the pair of shoes you are thinking of stretching are very tight and made of quality leather you're going to want to spend the extra money money on this product. I'm new to needing to stretch my shoes but this product is designed for the long haul and I can't imagine needing to replace it. If you're on the fence, I hope this helped. Very pleased!

This shoe stretcher works to widen or slightly lengthen shoes. Each direction of stretching works independently so you can adjust one or both. Only one shoe stretcher comes with this item. I wear a woman's size 8.5 M to with my left foot tending to need just a smidge more width, so one stretcher works for me. There are knobs you can attach to stretch specific spots. I add one for my little toe on the left. You will want some shoe stretching spray which you will have to buy separately. Note that with my 8.5 size shoe which falls midrange in the sizes this stretcher says it will work with...I could barely get it into the shoe which is a laceup leather walking shoe. I do not think the stretcher would fit in a 7 - 7.5 at alll. An 8 would be iffy. The other thing is this woman's stretcher is made to fit snuggly into a pointy-toed shoe. That is partly the reason I added a "bunion knob" (provided with the stretcher) to widen the wooden form some prior to cranking the rear knob a few times to widen the shoe. It is pretty pricey, but it will probably not be the last time I have to stretch a shoe. I recommend it for those that just need a smidge more room in one direction or another.

I used it three times and then it stop working, seems something broke inside , it does not strech long and wide at the same time , not recomend at all.

This should have been a FIVE STAR REVIEW, BUT... While these shoe stretchers are very well made, they are only good for dress (or casual ) SHOES, such as loafers, etc.If you want to stretch a pair of hiking shoes (or any footwear that has a higher back than the average shoe, you can not use these. If the LENGTHENING WHEEL was offset (it is in-line with the entire unit) and raised up even one inch, the stretcher(s) would be MUCH MORE VERSATILE, and be able to be used with a much broader style of shoe wear.
