Q: I see that it says pre-treated with Milk... so these are then not vegan are they? I ordered it because the first paragraph stated that it’s vegan...

Taken from their website... KSM-66’s extraction process entails pre-treating the ashwagandha roots with milk. For this reason, it contains milk constituents. Such pre-treatment is consistent with the process described by traditional ayurveda healers and texts. However, the traditional process does not scale up very well. Ixoreal has taken this traditional method and refined it greatly so that it produces high quality ashwagandha in a scalable manner, combining the traditional with the modern. Therein lies Ixoreal’s “secret sauce”, a highly proprietary process that took 14 years to develop and implement. The milk pre-treatment is important in our extraction process because this is in fact what leads to retention of both hydrophilic components and lipophilic components of the raw root, which in turn leads to a full-spectrum extract of such high-potency. For formulators targeting products at consumers who are vegan or for other reasons want to avoid milk, we also have a version of KSM-66 where the milk-pretreatment is skipped: this version of KSM-66 is vegan and milk-free. So it seems that the 60 count is the Vegan version and the 90 and 120 are not Vegan. But it seems that the milk treatment is a key element.

Q: It says two take for 2 months. Can you take for extended periods of time or do you need to cycle off?

I usually take it for 5 days then take 2 days off. But that's really up to you, but yes a break every once in a while is good.

Hello, thank you for your question. Please note that our lead scientist estimates the extraction ratio to be 10x to 15x with an average of about 12x (or 12:1). There is a RANGE for the ratio, rather than a SPECIFIC number because the ratio would depend on the specific Ashwagandha crop that is being used as the reference. Our extraction process starts with a higher-quality root in the first place: The raw material received at the facility is first analyzed for actives in the lab and is approved for production only if it meets the specifications. Because every batch of the raw root varies in phyto-actives, the concentration ratio varies accordingly.
