Koldfront WAC18001W 18,500 BTU 208/230V Heat/Cool Window Air Conditioner

I bought this unit to replace a 25 year old window unit that a previous owner had built into the wall of my 18' x 20' sun room. The installation was not bad, however the instructions were not the greatest, and I had to stray from them occasionally, since I was not installing in a window. Read them carefully and match up all the parts to the diagrams before you start assembling and you will save yourself some time. Make sure you remove the unit from the case, install the empty case in the window/opening, and then slide the unit back into the secured case as the instructions indicate. This unit is WAY to heavy to try to mount as one piece. You'll risk hurting yourself or damaging the unit if you try.The unit performs very well. My sun room is almost 400 sq ft with single pane glass and it can heat or cool it with no problem. Since I installed it in early spring, there have been cool nights and warm enough days that I could try both heating and cooling. The noise is better than my previous unit by far, but let's face it, you have a small compressor, condenser, and air handler within 2.5 feet of each other. You are going to hear it. Turning the fan speed down, of course, lowers the sound level.I really love the energy-saving mode (cooling/auto modes only) which turns the fan off after the room reaches the temperature you set, and then only turns back on every 10 minutes to check whether it needs to cool again. This makes it seem a little more like a central unit.

Very good product. I put this in the wall of my 36 x 50 foot metal out building with 16 foot high walls and minimal insulation. This building sits in the sun with no shade and this one unit will keep it about the same temp inside as it is outside which is what I was hoping for. Here in Florida then temps are normally low 90's. It takes a lot of humidity out so it feels much cooler inside than out. I'll get two more and that should bring the temp down to around 80, I think. Love the high fan speed. It'll blow air clear across the shop which is what I was hoping. With no a/c and the doors and windows closed it would get up to near 100 degrees in there so yeah, I'm happy.

Bought this for my daughter and she loves it. Keeps her house cool or keeps her house warm, depending on the season! With the thermostat it keeps her house at an even temperature. I’d buy this again and I highly recommend this item!

First thing to note. The plug on the unit is way larger than the it looks in advertisement picture. Which meant that I had to get an electrician to install a new outlet and upgrade a power line to accommodate the units power. Secondly,to note,if you are going to install it in window, you most likely,will have to pull out the unit from it's chassis and mount and install the chassis first. Again,I like the unit but you have to read the instructions and you have your work cut out for you.

I bought this unit for both air in Summer and heat in Winter. I'm in North Jersey and the 4000 watt heater eventually gets it up to 60 degrees in February but it is suitable for me. It has plenty of cooling power. In January, after 8 months in service, the motor started to make a racket. Todd at Living Direct (manufacturer direct) got back to me in hours and shipped out a new motor to me the next day. I am super happy to be able to service it in place without having to haul out a 120lb unit and drive or ship it out for service. Very happy with the unit and especially the service!

lasted for 4 yrs and will not cool. no one will work on this type of conditioner.

Cooling part is not that good but the heating part works good so far. I knew it would be a little loud but this thing sounds like a 747 taking off.
