Super flat and heavy. Many uses!
First of all, I heard the Amazon driver park, rummage around in his truck a bit, then drop this package inside the truck. Then, he dropped it again. On purpose or accident, I couldn't say. But it's stupid heavy, (I think 44lbs) and the box Amazon put it in is 4x the size it needed to be.The plate shipped in a snug wooden box that kept anything from chipping the corners. But let's face it this is a rock, and would do damage to that Amazon truck's aluminum floor.Using an OEM Tools mechanic's straight edge I couldn't detect any gap at all on this block in any direction. The block is better than .0015" in any direction and it didn't even seem like it was close. Very flat to me!I don't know how to use a surface plate as they are designed; I bought this to attach sand paper to and sand down an engine block *while still in the car*. It's a lot of work and took some inventive thinking but it worked! Had the head trued up at a shop and got the block down under .002" in all directions. It was much worse than that to start.Since then I've used it to measure the hight of things knowing I have a perfectly flat surface for the object to start on. Also put sandpaper on it and rubbed down a gasket surface for an aluminum thermostat housing and it works great. Having a surface you can trust is really handy. And just for funsies me and my kiddos put our hands on it once inside to make temporary hand prints! It was 34* when delivered.

Perfect For A&D FX120-i
While the bottom isn't polished, the top surface is, and it is a perfect fit for my A&D scale. It arrived it perfect condition inside a cardboard box lined with plywood! Excellent protection for the trip. I hope I never need another, but if I did I'd go straight back to this one.

This is nice. Utah
This stone is nice and flat even shipped it with the good part upside down with a really nice thick film with heavy duty plastic in a pine box which I find to be fascinating that they did awesome. Anyway Amazon thank God they shipped it to the wrong house and it sat there for a whole Flippin day until I realize that it was here a day early ha ha ha ha the wrong house really kind of pissed me off but there is a scratching the surface but it’s manageable thanks China for actually shipping something that’s decent ciao

Great Plate for the Home Tinkerer
I’m not a machinist but needed a reference plate for many projects that I work on. I can’t vouch for the accuracy but my needs aren’t super precise. The size is good for my workbench and it stays put since it’s very heavy.

Poor quality, not lapped
The surface finish is of poor quality. I can feel uneven machining marks. This stone was not lapped which I consider a must to achieve required flatness.

Got this for stamping leather
Works wonderful for leather craft. If I had purchased this thing for precision measuring metal height. I guess it'd be ok. There's visible lapping marks on the face. A coat of wax really brings them out. Then again it is a lower shop grade.Three stars because it's an expensive hunk of rock. Ships sturdy in a plywood box. So unless the delivery driver throws it down on the concrete porch, harder then he usually does. No worries for it showing up damaged.

Heavy
Thought this thing would way a few pounds at most. Boy, was I wrong. When did they start making granite so heavy?

It is a cheap flat
I got two of these for sanding and deburring to keep folks from using the nicer, higher head stone that is for measuring. They are not finished as nicely as the Starrett AA but that is actually the point.
