Aluminum construction, great build.
I use my phone for recording a lot of content for my lab classes. I needed something that wasn't plastic because it is easily ruined in a lab environment. What I wasn't sure of is how stable this would be without a tripod. It does a very good job holding my camera by itself when placed on a counter (great for getting good views of reactions in beakers) and is easily mounted on a tripod for a birds eye view of an experiment as well. The ball joint on the camera holder is also really sturdy and does not slip when tightened. It allows free rotation of the camera and just about any angle you would like to put the camera at. This is really nice when you can't set the tripod angle where you want it. (I have a ball head on my tripod as well, but the extra control is really useful). The grip on my iphone 8 is solid and I don't worry about it slipping out (to be fair, I have a rubberized case, so I don't know if the same is true if you don't use a phone case.

Easy and free home fix for issues...
I researched all of the phone camera adapters and settled on this one because it was all anodized aluminum. I did see the negative comments about slippage but decided I could deal with that if it was an issue. I like the design and it was a good price. However, it is true that because of the anodizing the ball joint can be slippery, and the threaded ball stud can come loose. That said, I was able to solve those issues with very simple "fixes" which did require disassembly:1. Remove the ball stud (use a pair of needle nose pliers to grab the shaft of the ball stud) and pressure washer and sand the ball and mating surface of the washer with fine sand paper. I used 300 grit.2. Find a thin rubber washer to place between the red tightening screw and the pressure washer. I used a thin rubber "bumper" I had lying around, but any small rubber or soft plastic washer will work.3. Put a drop of glue on the threads of the ball stud or just tighten it more with thin pliers. These simple and free tweaks have made this a perfect solution for me!See photo!

Love the metal body
I find this holder pretty nice. Doesn’t feel flimsy when I try to put my phone in like other stands. Also love that it has a metal body so it feels sturdy. It doubles as a phone stand for me when I’m not using it to shoot things. Makes it easier to be on a video call or just watching things on my phone.

Mounting Smartphone for Selfie
This mounting actually works with my tripod. See the images included with my review. It is flexible and extensible to fit your phone. Works on my Samsung and iPhone. This the best so far after spending so much time trying to purchase Smartphone mounting. It is sturdy though and feel stable. I was not sure, but have taken the risk. Now I can use my iPhone to Zoom meeting or video blogging. I am not how long it would hold.

It's not perfect but works for me
I like the functionality of this product. It holds my Galaxy Note in its case, (Landscape position). My issue with this product (although I have learned to deal with it) is that if you rotate the phone counterclockwise, the bracket becomes loose. The way around this irritating shortfall is to simply spin the phone clockwise while in the mount to tighten it back up. Just be sure that when you are rotating the phone to tighten the mount, that you don't go to far clockwise (to far past level) because if you need to rotate the phone back to the left a smidge, the bracket loosens (and the phone won't stay level). Its irritating, but certainly manageable. I deal with it because I like the overall flexibility and functionality of the bracket. I do not have any problems removing the phone from the bracket like I have read in other reviews. Overall, it works for me.

Best camera attachment
I have been using this product for over 5 years and it is so reliable, sturdy, range for adjustment is good and easy to attach to most compatible stands like selfie sticks or tripods. With how many cheap plastic phone holders out there this is a solid and worth while option!

was almost perfect until
This works extremely well and is all metal. The only issue is that once you put the phone in the cradle, even when you tighten it so that it does not rotate, as soon as you turn it in the opposite direction of bump it, it come loose. The issue is that you must tight the cradle using a needle nosed pliers. Since the shank is round, it is difficult to hold. The next version should make the shank hex so that it can easily be tightened. Once tightened, this thing is perfect although I wish the bottom plate either folded flat or was easily removable for better storage. YMMVupdate: November 30, 2022The two long screws in the expanding cradle routinely comes loose. I'm constantly having to tighten them with a crossed tip/Philips head screwdriver along with the issue originally described above. I no longer trust using this outside of using it around the house for fear that the screws will comes loose, and my device falls to the ground. I bought a second one not long after the first, but it is still inside of the box unused, and will probably never get used... I now use a different brand, which is a lot better functionally, but it too has an issue with similar screws, but in this case the manufacturer chose to use a small Allen head screw that none of my Allen wrenches in two sets I own fit. What don't I understand about any of these manufacturers is why they don't use LOCTITE on these screws??? They know these screws will loosen up over time, perhaps they are counting on it, so you'll buy another one?Unfortunately, this is a major issue so much that the two combined issues have caused me to downgrade my review of this product to 1-Star.YMMV
