I don't want to have to go outside. I want to free windows from interior not the exterior. Will this work as well from the inside?

That would depend on whether or not your windows are painted shut on the outside as well as the inside. This tool is quite nice, but it is thin and bends easily. It does work though.

The amazon description says the handle is a "tubular metal handle" but on the crl website, it says "...set in hardwood handle" so, which is it?

This is called a deglazing tool but all reviews are for unsticking windows. How does it work for removing glazing on old wood windows?

It doesn't, It is NOT a de-Glazing tool. It is made to un-stick wood double hung sash windows that have become stuck from over painting or being painted shut.
