An exceptional shaving bowl.
I've been interested in obtaining a shaving bowl that's able to retain heat for a more enjoyable shaving experience. Initially, I was looking at the Supply marble shaving bowl, but I wanted something more attractive than boring ole white. That's when I stumbled upon the Shash bowl in grey marble. The pictures they provided of the bowl were certainly appealing, but what sealed the deal for me was the $17 price tag. That really got me to go YOLO mode on the purchase. It turns out that their pictures were extremely representative of how the bowl looks, so I have no doubt that their other color offerings will look true to their pictures. To me, the color looks like a slightly blueish grey, and although I'm not a fan of branding on my products, the Shash logo is not gaudy in the least, so it really doesn't bother me at all.The outside of the bowl is smooth, but not glossy. Even with the smoothness, I find the bowl easy to grasp, even when wet.The inside of the bowl has small ridges carved into the bottom, and a mildly rough texture on the inner sides. These two features facilitate a VERY easy lathering process with the shave cream I use (Taylor of Old Bond Street sandalwood cream.) The inner texturing didn't seem to cause any damage to the synthetic shave brush I use, (RazoRock Plissoft) but seeing as how I've only used the bowl for one shave so far, I'll have to keep an eye on that. This thing has some weight to it, and as you'll find on just about any review on marble shave bowls, you're not gonna want to drop this puppy on your vulnerable toes. At least if someone breaks into your home while you happen to be shaving, you'll have something to bludgeon the assailant with.In terms of heat retention, this thing works great. I run hot water over the entire bowl, then fill it with hot water and let it sit as I'm showering. Once I'm done showering, I run hot water over the entire bowl once more, then proceed with standard shaving procedures. I normally do two passes, then a touch-up pass. My second pass feels just about as warm as the first, while my touch-up pass gets noticeably cooler, but still feels warm. Heck, this bowl was still radiating some warmth about fifteen minutes after giving it a hot rinsing. The only flaw I've encountered with this bowl is that there was still marble particles coming off of where they carved the inside, but that was easily rectified with a couple of scrubbings with water and an unused shaving brush. As previously stated, I've only used the bowl once, and although I'm not a big fan of immediate, non long-term reviews, I don't see anything drastic happening to the dang thing. C'mon, it's just a marble bowl. But if anything notable does occur, I'll try not to be lazy and update my review. One last thing to note is that the bowl has taken a slight scent of my shave cream that's present even a week after shaving, which I see as a positive feature.Anyway, if you're fine with a noticeable amount of heft and want an attractive bowl that retains heat well, I don't think you'll go wrong with this bowl.

Excellent shaving bowl
This bowl is well crafted, heavy in the hand, and retains heat allowing for comfortable, relaxing shaves. It IS NOT something you can just pop inside a toiletry bag and call it good. It is too heavy for that kind of thing. It does look nice sitting on the bathroom sink counter. There are well etched grooves that line the inside of the bowl which makes whipping up lather with a brush extremely easy and quick. I recommend putting hot water in the bowl for a few minutes to heat it up before whipping up you cream or soap to create hot lather. This pure marble bowl also makes for a great gift for any traditional shaving enthusiast. It has replaced all of my shave mugs, cups, and bowls. I highly recommend this product.

Nice, solid bowl
Very good shaving bowl. Quite heavy. I cannot tell if the bowl is one solid piece or two pieces that were "fused" together. Both bowls have a slight crack (does not affect the integrity of the bowl). Those "cracks" might be where they fused the pieces together. It does not seem like it will come apart. As one reviewer said, it is a little narrow if you are using a 26mm brush or larger. I had to hold with my hand and turn at an angle (around 45 degrees) to get a good lather. In a couple of pictures, it looks almost bluish. It is not. It is gray. Retains heat well and has the grooves inside to really work a lather quickly. I ended up buying two of them. Do make sure to rinse well before the first use. It has a lot of fine powder/dust out of the box.

With 15 Minutes You Can Make The Ultimate Bowl
I would give this a 4 star review but I was able to fix what was wrong. The bottom of the bowl was way too rough and it was breaking some of my badger hairs in half. I used some really rough screen sand paper then 240 and then finished it with 400. It's now smooth to the touch but still has some of those mil lines that I think help whip up the cream. No broken hairs since and my badger brush is getting softer and softer. It's nice and thick and with a minute of hot water it heats up and holds heat well.

Not pretty but it gets the job done!!!
Let me begin by saying the bowl works as advertised! Gets hot, stays warm, and tons of lather... the only down side is that the bowl doesn’t look like the picture, it’s much duller and not at all polished... my bowl came with a piece that was “patched” from a defect in manufacturing that fell off after the first use (see picture)... bottom line is that while it’s ugly it works and I’m keeping it!

Outstanding shave bowl
Retains heat like you wouldn’t believe. Easily fits in the hand. Lather starts building immediately. The grooves on the inside of the bowl make it perfect for shaving. It is well made and beautiful. Best shave bowl I have ever owned. I couldn’t be happier. I just bought another one to use at my cabin.

Great quality... just too small
This bowl is very good quality... but you better not drop it because it will break something... like your vanity. The grooves inside the bowl are very helpful in generating a lather, however, The inside diameter of the bowl is a bit too small. The brush handle keeps hitting the edge of the bowl and does not allow you to get a very good whipping motion to generate a lather. I prefer a 26 mm brush , but have to go to a 24 in order to make it somewhat work. Unfortunately I will be looking for something a little bit larger diameter

Really nice, sturdy bowl
Really nice, sharp looking bowl. You can work up a nice lather and the price (~$11) is right. One word of caution that is probably a good news/bad news situation. It's heavy. This isn't a flimsy fancy boy bowl. This is a man's bowl. Just know that going in. If I had to do it over again I MIGHT order a slightly lighter one, but a man is only allowed to order so many shaving bowls in his lifetime. It gets excessive after a certain point.
