If any musician fits neatly into a series called Icon, it's the one they called Satchmo. Here the New Orleans giant of jazz offers one of his biggest pop hits, "What a Wonderful World," along with his unique delivery of songs he definitely defined: "Hello, Dolly!," "Mame," "When the Saints Go Marching In," "Jeepers Creepers," "When It's Sleepy Time Down South," "A Kiss to Build a Dream On" and more essentials!

This is a great compilation of Pops' most accessible material
This is a great compilation of Pops' most accessible material. The selection is well done and the sound is pretty good. It seems like these days everybody knows Pops was an incredible trumpet player. In my estimation he is underrated as a vocalist. From his early days scat singing to his latter days as a crooner (a lot of whats here) he never hits a wrong note. Armstrong was as consumate a performer as one can find anywhere. His performances are full of heart and warmth. I highly recommend this disc to the Armstrong newbie and hardcore fan looking for a nice compilation of his pop hits. A job well done.
