Vin Diesel in his directorial debut "Strays" takes a hard look at his own adolescence and upbringing in New York City. Rick (Vin Diesel) is a "stray" raised on the streets, lacking a traditional family structure and wrestling subconsciously with his fathers absence. When he meets Heather, he sees the opportunity for a meaningful relationship and an escape from a world of drug dealing and street hustling. Trying to assimilate into Heathers world will not be easy as Rick struggles to overcome the perception that he is turning his back on his old neighborhood and friends. Though the chemistry between the couple is immediately charged, Ricks street manner and volatile aggression, threaten to extinguish their relationship before it begins. Review: Vin Diesel's Strays 1997 movie is a classic independant late 90's movie era. Super Dope! - Vin Diesel's Strays 1997 movie is a classic independant late 90's movie era. Super Dope! I thought it was going to be all about drug dealing and street thugs with a little romance in the mix. But I found it to be a romance story with a little street life in the mix. I found the character of Rick (Vin Diesel) to be very vulnerable and needing something more in life. He just wants to be loved, truely loved. Not just for the way he looks or acts but for who he is when he stands alone. I think the story shows that Vin can really embrace the role of a character who is romantic, and I hope to see more of him in these type of roles. Overall a great life changing movie and I was still thinking about some of the lines several days after watching the movie, so watch and enjoy.

Silly but effective made-for-tv thriller delivers ample suspense and terror!
This movie get s bad rap by people who take it too seriously. If you just sit back and ignore the implausibilities and enjoy it for what it is, then "Strays" will give you a fun and sometimes quite frightening experience. SPOILERS AHEAD! The premise couldn't be simpler; a couple with a little daughter in tow, move into a house taken over by a bunch of Cats. Led by a big grey feline with freaky eyes and a snarly meow to match, these kitties don't want anyone invading their territory, and set out to make life for this attractive family a living hell. Blending elements from "The Birds" and "Of Unknown Origin", is genuinely scary in spots and works better than you would expect from a made-for-TV movie. The last half hour, set on a dark and stormy night, is the very definition of chills, thrills and grab-you-in-the-dark jolts. To put it simpler terms, "Strays" is a blast!

Timothy Busfield vs. Hordes of Feral Cats
The premise of Strays sounds bad ass, as a family battles a militia of sadistic, feral cats, but this made for television production fails to live up to the concept and we’re left with a mediocre experience instead. The narrative is solid and has all the right openings for chaos and madness with the cats, but again, the movie is just way too restrained. This could be because of the made for television roots, as there’s little violence or over the top craziness, both elements that are much needed in a tale about murderous feral cats. The movie is able to deliver some moments of hope, such as the horde of cats around the crib at one point, but those instances are few and far between, sadly. Instead of putting the feline menace as the focus, Strays opts to lean on dialogue driven scenes about mild family drama. Why a movie about killer cats needs so much bland, forgettable dialogue I don’t know, but less generic talking and more wild cats would have worked wonders here. The pace is quite slow, spiked here and there by the cat appearances, but I was bored more often than not here, which is not how a when animals attack picture should go. I suppose for cat horror enthusiasts, Strays is worth a peek, but otherwise, it is hard to recommend. Visit my site for a full review!

and starred in this movie with a wonderful supporting cast
If ever there was a movie that should be in everyone's home, this is the movie. Vin Diesel wrote, directed, produced, and starred in this movie with a wonderful supporting cast. The storyline is totally credible and heart-wrenching. And Vin even sings in this movie, and really good, I have to add. I was not a fan of Vin until a year ago. I didn't have a clue who he was, but Boy! I sure am a fan now!!! He is amazingly talented!!! No wonder his movies sell like crazy. Buy this movie!!! You will love it!!!

very original
Vin Diesel wrote, stared, directed, produced this. excellent movie, but may be a bit disturbing for some in parts. Steven Spellburg saw this at the Sundance Film Festival and was so impressed he wrote a 30 minute bit into "Saving Private Ryan" for Vin Diesel, his foot into Hollywood. I highly recommend it for all Vin's fans.

Really Enjoyed this one !
As stupid as it may seem who's afraid of a bunch of cats really ? I'd be drop kicking , punching , hitting them with any item around but it's a movie so you have to suspend belief a little other than that it's a fun little thriller and worth a view or two decent cast as well.

Although I liked this movie and it was good quality I just wish it would have been available in a regular dvd and not blue ray
