Aerobie Pro Rings
The kids dog chewed up our old frisbees and they were coming up for a couple day visit and I wanted to pick up some new ones. I ran across this interesting design called a pro ring while browsing the Amazon store. There was a link to a video that I watched showing how they work. They looked cool, and I decided to spring for a set. These are great quality with a metal ring surrounded by some kind of robbery substance that is not super soft, but soft enough not to hurt when you catch these babies. And boy, do they fly! Just a flick of the wrist will have these things sailing. The 13-inch ring goes the farthest but it is harder to handle if you have smaller hands. Our 6-year old granddaughter can throw it a lot better than a regular frisbee, but has trouble controlling it because of the size. The 10-inch ring is easier to hold for her and she can really toss it. On a breezy day, it will catch the wind currents and rise and rise and fly way over the head of the receiver. You want to make sure you have plenty of room to throw these things and make sure there are no large trees around, because you will find yourself climbing trees to retrieve one that climbed too high. I have ordered several more and passed them around to various family members. I have read about similar rings from other brands, but also those other brands use a plastic ring instead of metal for the "bones" and the plastic will break sooner than later making it useless. I have not tried any other brand but this. They are very sturdy and I have no fear that they will break or become unusable. We have been having a ball with these rings and they have held up great for all the throwing into tree trunks, house siding, fences, etc. that invariably happens when you throw these things. I also discovered that you can throw these rings overhanded like a baseball, not just flipping them like the normal frisbee. These are very easy to control and they go a long ways. Well worth the higher cost for the right kind of durable frisbee.

Don't waste your money on cheaper look-alikes like I did. THIS is the best one out there!
I'm a huge fan of frisbees and flying rings and I'm trying my hardest to create addicts out of the rest of my family (hubby, 11-year old, and 13 year-old.) We frequent the Oregon coast every couple of years and always take a large stash of frisbees and rings for beach time. I reserve the heavy frisbees for super windy days. For all other days, I definitely prefer the rings because they're so dang fun to fly and everyone in the family can have success throwing and catching them. I've tried every ring imaginable - from uber expensive, to uber cost-efficient. Aerobie wins the contest hands down! The main reason I love aerobie brand discs is because of their texture and outer lip. They are smooth (picture "chewy") and seamless which is a godsend to my fingertips and nails. That being said, I can definitely understand why dog-lovers decide to choose another brand. If I were a dog, I'd chew the heck out of these things and never retrieve them. The texture is just that perfect. They are made of a rubber product and have a nice density that allows them to cut through wind and fly like a breeze. My kids love throwing and catching them because the learning curve is much less than hard discs. They're so much fun to ring on your arm! (insert hand through the hole upon catching.) The ONLY downfall to Aerobie discs is their sinkable nature. They will not survive a bad throw into the Pacific Ocean. Period. The hollow center causes the disc to sink immediately. If you're lucky, it might resurface once. It won't twice. That being said, it's not worth waisting your money (in my opinion) on the cheaper variety of flying discs that tout floating ability. If they float, then they're either made of super lightweight plastic or they're lying. Neither is good given the plastic edge that cuts your fingers and leaves cuts on your arms when you perform a ringer. (Aerobie has no edge, see picture 2). And let's face it...the Pacific Ocean is a beast. It will swallow anything hole if given the chance...except for a volleyball or other tough air-filled object. In terms of size, I love the dual pack that includes one large ring and one small one. Both are equally fun and have their own benefits. I will continue to buy these fun rings as long as they keep making them. The glow-in-the-dark ones are particularly fun for night flying. Nice job, Aerobie!

Great Product!
I love to bring this frisbee out places where me and my friends are in an open area without many or any trees. It is extremely fun to throw around; however, if you're not very experienced with frisbee's, I wouldn't recommend these to be your first option. A lot of times people ask to throw them they just launch it into the sky on accident, or get it stuck on a tree (they have a giant hole in the middle of them which makes it very easy to get it stuck) and it is pretty difficult to get down depending on the height of the tree and how well the frisbee is stuck. About two years ago when I was in 8th grade, several kids from my grade were playing with my frisbee and I was okay with it until... we'll call him 'A' got a hold of it. A was, and still is, a pretty ignorant, close-minded individual. My friend and I told him to throw it straight and not throw it towards the trees. Surprise surprise.. he got it stuck in a tree. It did end up being pretty funny though because almost all of the kids from my grade were out on the fields either throwing their shoes up, into the air trying to knock my frisbee down without getting their shoe stuck, or else watching those trying to knock it down. At the end of the day I forgave A, didn't really care all that much considering I had 5 other aerobie's, but ya know, the kids throwing it back and fourth to each other and having fun were the ones that cared the most and were genuinely disappointed when A got it stuck. P.S. I never got my frisbee back Also, I changed my mind, purchase this frisbee even if you are a beginner. It's very fun to throw around and the only way to get better at something is to practice, and without this frisbee you won't be able to practice with it.

In my mind there are no other types of frisbies. These are the best ones that exist period and they have always been that way. Easy to fly, easy to catch, long distance throws possible, perfect for kids and adults.

Once you get the hang of it and always consider which way the wind is blowing, it can easily go all the way acrss a football field with a flick of the wrist. Been using them 30-40 years if I remember rightly. Beats all the frisbies Ive ever tried. Expensive yes, but worth it. Just keep well away from trees until you really know how the wind takes them. Throw into the wind and they can soar higher and higher till you almost lose sight of them. All my dogs have loved them and carry the large ones round their necks. I cannot throw a ball, hopeless, but these - must have flown many miles and last for years. There are even record breaking awards for them. As long as I have dogs I will keep buying them, but a few have been lost to trees.
