Play along with a Blues Master!!
Definitely agree with the guy that has the most liked review on here. This was a lucky find here on Amazon, as I buy a TON of play along books. Peter Green has been one of my favorites for awhile now, and his playing has always been something I wanted to emulate. Enter this book. Its nuts because in reality, the technicality of the songs in this book AREN'T THAT DIFFICULT!! It's really amazing what he made sound so complex turns out to be rather "simple." (fingering, even the use of SLIDE on "Albatross" ANYONE can pull off!!) Peter Green just knew how to make emotion travel thru his guitar into your mind. If you are aware of who Peter Green is and you play guitar, this book is a MUST!! Superb backing tracks, right on par with any Hal Leonard Play Along book, as well as the TAB. Great write ups too, and unlike the Hal Leonard series of books, the breakdown tracks of JUST the solos is acutally something I did end up using and appreciating!! Definitely a must buy!!Don't be put off by the corny looking cover, this really really is a GEM of a find for a blues playing guitarist.

Great, but needs more attention to the rhythm section
Good transcriptions and helpful notes on playing. Also some nice biographical and song descriptions, and style tips. My only gripe is that they should have included more rhythm info. It just focuses on Peter's part. However, his interaction with Kirwan and Spencer were so key to the feel of many songs. "Watch Me!" is a perfect example where there is fantastic rhythm that moves up and down the neck; in some ways I would like to have more focus on the Kirwan's rhythm on that one, but there is minimal attention given. That said, I love PG's work and would buy it again in a heartbeat.

In session with Peter Green
It was as described and I couldn't be more pleased with the one that I ordered. I said I ordered one. I was sent two. I assume I was charged for two. Therefore, I am not pleased!

Worth the Price of Admission
First of all, even though there are only 6 songs transcribed here, I'm sure the cost of this book/CD is less expensive than 1 hour of paid guitar lessons. There are tons of things to learn from Peter Green (and his influences) here. Each song is transcribed (book) and the CD comes with 4 tracks per song (full demonstration track, full backing track, solo demonstrated in full and slowed down, backing track for the solo slowed down). I am a bit confused by the other review requesting tracks that ARE on here (3 of them noted). What IS included: (1) Black Magic Woman (2) Need Your Love So Bad (3) Man of the World (4) Albatross (5) Watch Out! (6) Merry Go RoundFor me, the transcription of "Watch Out!" alone was worth the entire price of admission. Bottom line, if you love the guitar playing of Peter Green you'll love this. There are very good reasons why people love Greeny's playing and you'll get lots of insight with this. There really is plenty here to keep you busy and will surely help you become a better player in the process.Sure, it may not be perfect and I can nitpick a few things but it's a great bargain.

great news but unfair!!!
i've been searching for peter green's tabs and so it is great to hear that there're atlast accurate tabs of the music of the great peter green.but why only 6 songs? and two of them not great choices - there're so many other great songs of the green god.would be fantastic if we could have accurate tabs of green's album with john mayall - a hard road - and his fleetwood mac material as well. maybe the following :Bluesbreakers :1.dust my broom2.another kinda love3.supernatural4.the stumble5.so many roadsFleetwood Mac :1.black magic woman2.need your love so bad3.oh well4.love that burns5.the green manalishi6.rollin man7.man of the worldi'm salivating already!!!

Excellent - far better than the DVD alternative
There are two products on Amazon which allow you to study and learn Peter Green-style playing. Of the two (the other is a double DVD which comes without tab), this is by far the best. The notation, tab and associated CD tracks are excellently produced. The tracks featured are -Black Magic WomanNeed your love so badMan of the worldAlbatross... and the less well known but superb ...Watch outMerry go roundFor those wanting to explore and develop a PG-style soloing technique, the last two tracks are especially useful. The book contains a lot of additional tips and licks and is, in all respects, a thoroughly well thought out study of Peter Green's magical playing. The backing tracks let you practise not only the various compositions but also provide the basis for your own jamming and invention. Who could ask for more?As an adjunct, if you want to truly explore Peter Green's sound, it is worth looking for one particular guitar which, at the time of writing is being sold by Amazon affiliates for VERY reasonable prices (around £250 - £300). It is also generally available elsewhere. This is the Vintage V100 MRPGM 'Lemon Drop' which, as far as I know, is the only Les Paul type guitar which comes as standard with the reversed humbucker and out-of-phase wiring which gave PG's instrument that famous sound. The 'Lemon drop' is only available as a relic'd (distressed) instrument whose looks may not be to everyone's tastes - but the sound IS excellent. Look for it on Youtube as well.--------------------------------------UPDATE 2016 -------------------------------Vintage now sell a non-relic'd version of the PG guitar in a tobacco sunburst finish.Hope that tip helps if you're a fan of Peter Green's original playing style.

Great music
Great book about a very good musicians' music. The book has the usual clear tab that you would expect from this range of books, and the cd offers lots of help by first giving you the song with the guitar part and then without to allow you to play along. This is a great way to learn at your own pace, take your time pete green was always an interesting musician and his music is never easy but it is playable with practice. Try 'man of the world' a rare piece of rock guitar. For the price you can't go wrong, add it to your library for any time reference.you don't need a les paul to play this stuff, but it will certainly help

Great instructional tips
Well written and clearly laid out format. Something to get your teeth into. Although not for the beginner, nevertheless a great book to take section by section as you improve. Would say that this will improve your skills and knowledge of guitar as you progress through your journey. Recommend it.

Accurate Tab & Well-Written Additional Notes
Very good book and CD. Backing tracks with & without lead/solo guitar together with normal and slowed tempo tracks. I found this really helpful for gaining familliarity with the songs. It also means you can play the guitar parts and put the vocal on as well. The additional notes covering each of the songs are really useful, pointing out key aspects of Green's playing style - such as the fast vibrato and delicate touch that are so much a part of these pieces.I would thoroughly recommend this volume and would certainly consider purchasing other volumes in the series.

Guitar hero
I bought this book in a pathetic attempt to sound like my all time guitar hero Peter Green. Needless to say I don't. That's not the fault of the book which is very good indeed. It is clearly laid out with excellent guitar tablature and a very helpful CD. I would recommend it.
