Amazing, unmissable and unforgetable - a movie not to be ignored if you get the chance to watch it
A friend and I watched this in the cinema when it was first released at the end of the 1980s, over 30 years ago. When it ended we came out without speaking, went to our local bar and sat pretty much in silence for about 30 minutes absorbing what we had just seen. Then bit by bit we began to discuss not just the screenplay or the acting (both sublime) but how it resonated in our minds - no spoilers so I will just leave you with the fact that after all these decades, I still suddenly remember scenes or lines from out of the blue and pause to think how it affected me over 3 decades and still continues to affect me.

Not at all what I expected
Should be 'done' under the TDA! It advertises itself as 'the most erotic serious film since Last Tango in Paris'. Really? Whoever wrote that obviously never saw 'Last Tango'! I did, and it is nothing like as 'hot'. However, it is nicely filmed, with good, recognised actors, but the only reason I gave it 3 stars instead of 1, is because Stellan Skarsgard (who has a 'blink and you'll miss it' part in it)was brilliant, as usual. in fact, I personally thought his was the only erotic part in it!

The return of Prague 1968
This DVD is a good supplement to Milan Kundera's novel by the same title. The main characters play extremely well, the photography is excellently done and the plot follows the story faithfully. The story centers around the surgeon Tomas, played by Daniel Day Lewis, and his two women; Sabina; Lena Olin and Tereza; Juliette Binoche. This seen amidst the background of the tragic events in Prague in 1968. This film was considered quite daring regarding the sex-scenes when it appeared the first time, but is almost average nowadays. What I didn't like so well, was the sound of the voices. Something seems to have gone wrong in the process of making this film into a DVD, but apart from this fault, I still think people who liked the novel will enjoy this film.

Sad and Atmospheric
This film, which follows the lives of 3 individuals, is based around the former Czechoslovakia, and its invasion by the USSR in 1968, and is worth watching. The acting is very good, and the story is sad, atmospheric, romantic, and was surprisingly erotic (when it was released). It deserves 4 stars.
