Fun addition to the game!
These are just as well made as the original game pieces, and add another fun dimension to the game. I couldn't find these in any store, so I was happy to find them on Amazon. By the way, my 6-year old grandson is great at this game! He's a pretty sharp kid and loves to play games. Last time we played, he beat me every single time!! He taught me how to use the expansion pieces. So this game is great for young and old, in my opinion! I also love how portable it is.

Fun addition to Hive! The ladybug adds some versatility and can travel three spaces (two up on top and then one down).

Similar to the knight in chess, except it jumps up and drops down
The ladybug expansion is a great addition once you have learned the base game. It makes you think a little more than what you already had to do before and allows you to jump over pieces and drop down into openings. Using it may get you the win that you want!

Good piece. Adds a moderate amount to the game. They got the white color a little wrong, though.
I like this piece quite a bit. It adds to hive nicely without being so overpowered that it dramatically changes the nature of the game. Additionally, the color and design are nice. It's by far the nicest looking of the expansions and one of the nicest pieces aesthetically of all of them. The reason I take off a star is that the color of the ivory piece doesn't match that of the rest of the set. It's slightly darker and greener. Given the price of these expansions, I would think the manufacturer would be careful to make the colors match. I have had this problem with all three of my expansions, so I guess the greener color is the new one. It may be a little OCD to say, but I don't like that expansions have a slightly different ivory color than the rest of the set. They look like they don't belong. Kind of makes me wish I had bought the carbon edition--they would have matched for sure in that case. That's only an aesthetic issue, of course.

Fun addition!
Super fun addition to the game - keeps the action moving. Compared to the beetle which can only move one space per turn, the ladybug moves three spots: two on top of the hive and one down. I was surprised the pack only included two pieces, and it’s a bit pricey. But I love the game, so overall feels like a worthwhile investment.
