Cheap and fun best of both worlds
It is a fun instrument to play good feel with the box. Only issues are the construction is sub par at best. It is particle board that has a large sticker covering the body so its not real engraved wood. The wires inside for the pickup are not glued down or even taped so they make vibration when playing. The corners and f the sticker on the body are torn a bit and the bottom edge of the box is not completely glued together and the sticker covering the box has bubbles all over it. The neck is scratched horribly perhaps somehow this one I got was returned by a previous customer and they used it hard before sending it back. Good base junk instrument for messing around with after you have had a few shots and crank the old county folk music on. It has a decent sound using an amp and all together for the price can't hate it gotta love it. But I love all instruments I play even my homemade ones which actually play allot better than this sbu. But still fun to pick up and pluck when your bored stuck inside.

It does work but feels like a toy.
The sting make keeping this instrument in tune difficult. The pickup I found frustrating when I first began to play the instrument. Every time my hand brushed up against the box it produces the scratching sound. I have never played a ukulele and order this one when I want a guitar. For the price I decided to keep it. Not something I would use to entertain. Its size allow you to store place it out of sight but easy to reach so I am able to play it with or without amp when I find I have a few minutes or just board. I am considering making a 4 string guitar neck and using parts from this item with a set of wire strings. The sound quality is lacking. I never cared much for the sound of a ukulele. This could be an inexpensive method to make your own 4 string cigar box guitar.Buy or wind your own pickup for the guitar...

Fun novelity that actually plays
Surprised with the decent sound from a contact covered box and a two by four style neck. It is nicely done for what it is. Not recommended as a first instrument for those serious about learning to play as you'll get frustrated with the imperfections. If you life the look and want some fun that you'll love it. Great price for what you get AND you can plug it into an amplifier to boot!

A real instrument at a toy price
Very nice, very inexpensive instrument. I've been playing Uke for 39 years, and I can say this one has excellent tone and playability - far better than what I expected for the price. This is now a "car uke" since I don't have to worry about it getting banged around a little bit, or left in the trunk. Holds it's tuning well, and has a loud clear voice.

Not perfect, but we'll worth the price
Definitely worth the price! Great for beginners. I agree with others reviews that the action is too high. My solution is tuning it a half step down and put a capo on the 1st fret

Not that good out of the box.
The neck and body are solid, sound good. But the bridge, nut, and frets are bad. The nut and bridge have the strings too high, and the placement of the bridge as shown has the intonation off. After adjusting the bridge, the high string height sets the intonation off again.Fortunately, the fret spacing is good, even if the frets are small. I put my own nut and bridge on, filed them down to a good height, and also put on some steel strings. Now it plays very well, and can slide hawaiian style.

Cool uke/action set too high
Cool little electric cigar box ukulele, especially for the price. My one gripe is that the action is set way too high. As many of the most-used chords utilize the first two frets, an undue amount of pressure is required.
