does it fit my 2016 VW Golf R?

It physically fits but is 1" shorter than the OE wiper. Bosch and Amazon both list this 280mm (11") wiper (p/n A282H) as correct for a VW Golf Mk 7 rear application, but OE size is 300mm (12"). Bosch's catalog does show a 300mm size in their "Rear" line (p/n A311H), but Amazon does not show this part number as an option in the "Style" drop down list when 12" is selected in the "Size" list. So, this fits but you lose a little bit of swept area compared to OE wiper.

Are these just the rubber blade? Or is it the bracket and arm etc?

Blades and bracket only. Slides on to your existing wiper arms.

how do you fit the rear wiper blade for the a4 avant?

You have to pull the old one off. and pop the new one in. Be careful I don't know what year you have, but it is very possible to break the plastic arm. so grip the wiper arm and pull the old blade off and then push the new one in. Heads up A4's have specialized front wipers too. (have an 09 B8)

Not compatible with 2014 Ford Escape.

It appears to be a great product. The mounting harness is not compatible with a 2014 Ford Escape as listed. The pictures display my current blade and the necessary mount in comparison to the BOSCH.
