A great product at a bargain
Maybe the best electric kettle I've used! Filled half way (our usual amount) it comes to a full boil in about 3 minutes then turns itself off. If you've left the room and missed the "off" by just a little, just turn it back on for less than a minute and it comes back to a boil. It has a "scale" filter (particularly nice if you have hard water) on the spout that is easily removable to clean. The lid lifts up almost straight up, making it pretty easy to reach inside to clean it out. It out-performed two others I tried and costs far less.

Does the job
Ordered this last night and it came in today. After washing it, I heated up the initial kettlefull of water and I heard boiling noises less than a minute after turning it on. It heated up really fast. I poured that out and filled it again with the water I intended for two cups of instant coffee and a pot of tea. I let it boil for a bit longer and the anti boil dry feature kicked in and turned it off. The coffee came out good and the water stayed REALLY hot a few minutes later when I got around to brewing the tea. I don't notice the tea cooling any earlier than usual with either the coffee or when I had the tea with lunch around an hour later (I use a tea cozy), so I don't know about the water supposedly cooling too quickly. All in all, it seems to do what it needs to. I got the larger size so I could fill my 40oz tea pot. The half a liter minimum amount might be a little too much for my partner's morning cup of coffee, but I'd rather have something that only needs to be filled once for most of my needs than refill it a few times for a fairly common use case for us.We'll see how this holds up after nigh daily use.

Good looking and works great
I got used to having a hot water kettle for making tea during my extended travel in Asia. I had to get an electric kettle like I had at the Asian hotels I stayed at. I got this one on Amazon because the design caught my eye. I like the glass with metal accents and the larger capacity (but still small enough to stay on countertop). It does heat up pretty fast for making tea, coffee, hot chocolate or what have you. I love watching the blue light come on and the bubbles forming quickly when the water comes to a rapid boil. No issues so far. Only minor complaint is the minimum fill is about 2.5 cups of water. I wish it was less for one person's use (as I'm the only person using it most of the time).

Tea time was never this fast.
This boils water so fast, there is no waiting for your tea! I don't like that its hard to clean. After a few uses there was a build up of deposits and it hard to scrub them off because the lid doesn't not come off and its a tight fit to get your hand in. Using a brush doesn't seem to really get it and you can't immerse the pot in water. I love the speed but wish it was designed with a removable top.

A Good Kettle in spite of broken button.
Seems like a good quality tea kettle in spite of the broken button. There was a small piece of plastic that fell out of the plastic bag the kettle was wrapped in. I am guessing that was a part of whatever broke that was holding the button in place. The packaging is pretty good...the box had some wrinkles and appeared stressed but the kettle was pretty much intact...except for the button being inoperative.I have another AmazonBasic kettle in Stainless steel I use frequently to make larger batches of sweet tea in. It is the same kettle as the glass one but in stainless steel. It boils rapidly and is just what I wanted for making several gallons of tea at a time. I boil 6 large tea bags in the kettle and then let them steep before diluting it. I bought the glass one because steeping tea in metal stains the metal..even stainless steel...which then requires more aggressive cleaning if you need it to be shiny. The glass is easier to clean and I can leave it out on the counter for when I just want hot water.

You're heating your water wrong!
If you're boiling water on your stove or in the microwave, you should be using an electric kettle instead. This thing heats up enough water for a cup of tea in less than 30 seconds. It's higher power than other electric kettles I've used which means it's even quicker which means it's even more awesome. The only drawback is that it pours a little funky so I have to tilt it back and forth once or twice to get all the water out but that's a pretty minor gripe. Love this thing!

Best value in a straightforward electric kettle
For a 1 liter boiler, this is all you need. At my altitude (5000 feet), water boils around 202 degrees F, the optimal temperature for brewing coffee. The auto shutoff remains reliable even at this temperature, which can't be said for all automatic kettles out there.Appears well built of quality materials. The lid hinge is fairly stout so even though it's plastic, with reasonable care it should be durable. A major advantage for me is that the kettle/base take up minimal space on my countertop. Overall, I am very pleased with this little kettle.

Don't Confuse Lightweight with Cheap
I bought this electric kettle to use as a quieter way for me to make early morning tea when we have houseguests, thinking I'd use it 3-4 times a year. It immediately earned a permanent place on the kitchen counter! I chose this one because it is lightweight, as reviewers said other more expensive kettles took two hands to manage. The on/off switch is convenient and easy to flick up or down. It does turn itself off after a minute of rapid boiling, but it heats so quickly that the filling, heating , and using process makes that a non-issue. I also use it to supplement heating water in big pots for pasta or other purposes.
