An interesting and highly informative book for anyone who is seeking to find out who they are.
Like many people I am a voracious reader with interests in a wide variety of topics from Abacus to Zymurgy. I purchase the vast majority of my books on Amazon because they have not only an enormous selection but the most reasonable prices as well. I recently purchased this fantastic 247 page hardcover book (Archetypes: Who are you? By Caroline Myss) for a bargain price on Amazon).I found this book so interesting that I could not put it down and finished it in one sitting. Even though I always knew that I loved numerous sports and martial arts all my life, this book also made me realize that I also can identify clearly with other Archetypes such as the intellectual, artist/creative, the spiritual seeker and definitively the warrior. This easy to read volume covers the following material: Archetypes: the new inner-net, your personal journey, the advocate, the artist/creative, the athlete, the caregiver, the fashionista, the intellectual, the Queen/Executive, the rebel, the spiritual seeker, the visionary, and the archetype gallery. If you are seeking to find out who you are this book points the way by exploring numerous archetypes. You may find your true calling or you may discover like I have, that you are a combination of many archetypes.Rating: 5 Stars. Joseph J. Truncale (Author: Chair/Seated Tai Chi, Qigong and Yoga for seniors and the physically challenged).

Very Interesting
I recently started listening to Caroline Myss and reading her blog. I was first interested because she is a medical intuitive, and then after listening to some of her recordings, I realized I enjoy her insightful, take-no-prisoners style. I'm reading this book as kind of a primer for her "Sacred Contracts," which I plan to read soon. I'm only 75% in, but had to pause to say that I am amazed by her description of the Feminist Rebel. I've rarely thought of myself as rebellious, but reading this chapter opened my eyes--and explained some behaviors I've always found perplexing if not alarming. It's like she peeled back a layer and showed me a part of myself that's been there all along but I couldn't see it. Now I can, and it feels liberating. I love her laser-fine insights and look forward to learning more.

Save yourself time (and money)- go to the website instead
I purchased this book hoping it would delve deeper into the archetypal concepts Myss previously introduced in "Sacred Contracts." I got a lot out of that book. This book, however, does not even sound like the same author. For those of you looking for vintage Caroline Myss you will be very disappointed. You should check out the website and you will see everything discussed in the book. There's not much food for thought:(

Disturbed by the focus of this book
I find it deeply disturbing that a spiritual giant such as the author would say that all we do as human beings is carried out with power in mind. That power is the driving force of our choices and decisions. A Course in Miracles and author Marianne Williamson say all choices are made from either fear or love. To me power seeking is a form of fear. I would expect more from Carolyn Myss. While the subject of Archetypes is intriguing, the content of this book seems more geared to fitting in with the current societal focus than becoming your authentic self. If you really want to know yourself and why you are here, check out The Human Design System and give this book a pass.

A timely and easy to read revamp about an interesting topic.
Archetypes have always interested me, but not from an academic perspective. Although it tends to be academics who write about them.Caroline Myss is an incredibly switched-on woman, and her slant on the topic is well worth a read. For anyone wanting to find out what energetic currents they swim in and why they love what it is that they love (and why the bottom can fall out of their world if that energetic part of them isn't being fed) then this is a really good book to get you back on track without squashing your own unique take on that particular energy. It offers practical guidelines for helping you recognise when you're going off track - exhibiting the shadow aspect of the archetype - but is equally as accepting of whichever face that archetype presents in your life. You don't feel wrong, just better understood.Because I'd read a bit about archetypes, I only gave the book 4 stars. It is well written and comprehensive in terms of how far she wants to take the topic - which is to help people reconnect with those core (but shifting) energetic undercurrents that inhabit our modern world - but may prove a bit lightweight for a small percentage of readers. That said, I found it extremely helpful to remind me, and help me better understand some core energies that are at play in my world (and why my wheels can fall off if I am not honouring them). Helpful, well written, and the social website that Ms Myss has aligned herself with as part of the story telling is also worth checking out. (I bought the Kindle version because I was keen to get my hands on it, but will also by a hardcopy to enable me to share it with others.)

Knowing Your Archetype, you know yourself.
The Queen / Executive will Rise. I read this book in one sitting, on a Saturday at a coffee shop. It helped me see what my automatic archetype is, and why my life has been such a struggle. I have been going against my own archetype for decades, and not had the success I know that it is possible. This book is giving me permission to embrace me. Wish I'd written this...
Caroline Myss is phenomenal in this one (and get Sacred Contracts first; get her Audible version). Her voice is even getting more modulated and less strident which is (finally) great because the material in these two books is genius, truly .
