Q: What do you use an air compressor for?

An air compressor fills a tank with pressurized air that is used for many things. Filling tires with air. It sprays paint with a paint gun, a power washer sprays high pressure water. Powers a nail gun and other power tools like drills and saws. All by blowing high pressure air.

Q: Viair's website says it has a 16 ft air hose, Amazon says 12 ft. which is it?

I just received mine and it is the new version, with a 16 ft air hose and a 10 ft power cord. This means that I can take power from our 31 ft motorhome's "house" batteries (under the entrance stairs), place the compressor mid-way on the curb side, and comfortably reach all 6 tires.

Q: Is the fuse for this unit easily replaceable? I noticed in other Viair products there was a fuse about midway down the power cord, is this the same?

Yes, the 88P has a single 20 amp, dual flat pin, Viair-brand automotive fuse that snaps in-and-out of the plastic fuse housing on the "Alligator clamps" power cord. It's always a good idea to carry a couple of spare Viair 20 amp blade fuses with you just In case the power cord fuse ever blows. NOTE: you'll need a plastic fuse puller or a pair of pliers to replace a blown fuse, which fits very snugly inside its housing.

Q: Is there a way I could use this to fill a bigger (4.7 gallon) air tank?

As long as you stay within the compressors operating range you should be ok. (Duty Cycle: 25 min. @ 30 PSI- Max. Working Pressure: 120 PSI)
