Great for gaming, not so much for card performing.
It's a bit thinner than I was expecting; these are only about 1/16th of an inch thick. It came in a sealed plastic bag, folded into eighths, so it took a few days for the folds to disperse. The thinness of this mean there's not a lot of cushion to work with, so picking up cards off the surface isn't much easier than it is off a bare table; I've had better luck with table cloths. The mat does look nice though, and the thinness makes it very easy to roll up and carry around. One last point though; the surface fibers on these run horizontal. That means these are more slippery from side to side than they are from top to bottom. That affects things like ribbon spreading cards, as the cards are more likely to slide horizontally. If the fibers were vertical, they'd have more 'bite' and would grab the cards better during spreads, making them easier to work with. For typical gaming though, this isn't much of a big deal, and the mat would work just fine for that. For card performances, it's not so great.

I haven't found a better playmat for gaming yet
I haven't found a better playmat for gaming yet. I use this for a lot of games that require dice-building, and also use it as my mat when playing deckbuilding/tableau-building games. I'm not a fan (at all) of the large nude manga mats that seem to be the norm with playmats, so this one is simple and no-frills and does its job well. The material is pretty thin, so there's not much give to the fabric when you're trying to pick up cards, but the neoprene is easy to keep clean and keeps cards/pieces/dice from sliding around on the table. The mat is backed with a large grippy surface similar to a mousepad, which has always been more than enough for my needs. You could definitely make use of this as a mousepad -- in fact, I'm thinking of buying another for work since I always use my mice in such a large range that I push them off the mousepad. For $8.63 (at time of purchase) it's pretty difficult to top this great mat.

Keeps cards clean, but not for table work with cards (i.e. table faro shuffles). Also smells bad.
This is like a really large mouse pad. If you're looking for a magic pad that has a bit of foam/sponge cushion for ease in picking up cards to perform table shuffles like faro and cuts, this is NOT the best item for that.I bought this product to keep my playing cards clean as I'm learning flourishing and table work techniques. It is very useful in keeping my cards clean, but it's still not as easy to pick up the cards on the spot. I have to slide them to the edge to pick them up. ALso, if you intend to buy this, be aware that yours may smell like it reeks of toxic rubber fumes. Mine was like that for a long while. If your playmat does smell like such, I suggest leaving it out in the open rather than rolling it up and putting it back in the box it came in (if you're was shipped in a box). Also keep the room aerated with the window open or something.Mine no longer smells any more, unless I rub my nose into the card mat.

Over all Great, but not for card Magicians... Unless...
If you're a magician I know what you're looking for and this mat is not for that. This mat is really thin and if you do table card magic its really hard to pick up cards. Since its really thin there's no cushion or space for you to press down to pick up cards from the table. But if your like me and will make anything work, I hot glued a thin cushion spacing underneath this mat and works damn good! Its thin and I can easily pick up cards from the table!

Amazing mouse pad
may not be the intended use but it's great to use a huge mousepad. fits my keyboard, mouse, and part of my monitor stand. mouse glides right over it and rolls up nice and easy if I have to take it somewhere. very sturdy, hard to justify the purchase of a 50 dollar mouse mat when this does just fine I just love it.Not going to lie, I had the intention of using it as a mouse mat, I have a lot of playing cards but I used it once as a mouse mat, and I did not go back. I'm not lying, these things should be marketed as a mouse pad and not a playing card mat, they would probably make much more money. I'd recommend it.

Great Job
Game mats are sold all over but for a great price for a plain solid mat is awesome. Shipped sooner than expected.

Great little card playing mat.
Great little card (or other game) playing mat. I just purchased another one because I bought it to use when I read tarot and oracle cards. The height (vertical side) is enough to lay 4 cards, the width is enough for 5 regular sized cards. Tarot are often larger so I purchased another to get double the vertical space. I am just about positive this little mat was made for just a single person to use and that each player would need their own mat. If I remember correctly the mats are listed as good for magic the game playing cards and similar games.
