Velo Orange Quick Release Skewers

Seemed like quality when I got them. Looked good, clamped the axle, what more could I ask for. Well for the skewer not to fall apart for one thing. Had a flat and went to take the tire off and the rear skewer fell apart. After much frustration I was able to bandage it back together enough to limp home where I promptly threw them away. Shameful quality for such an important item. I now use Shimano XT skewers which are light years ahead.

They do exactly what they are supposed to do and they look very nice. Great for a vintage build, especially.

I purchased these to replace some ultralight skewers that could not hold my rear wheel when riding uphill. These look good and do the job. The added 80 grams is welcomed now that I have experienced what the ultralight skewers offer.

It won't make your bike any lighter but it sure does look good and function as its supposed to.

Get the confidence of an internal cam and the finish that will compliment your expensive wheels.

Nice finish on the skewers. The rear skewer can be cut shorter to fit older bikes.

I bought 2 pair of these quick releases. They are beautifully made and look great. The rear quick release is 135mm which is good for me since my road bikes are set to this width. They hold about as well as any other quick release.I was disappointed in these quick release when one of them simply came apart in my hand and it was impossible for me to fix it as the entire assembly is held together by a miniscule C-clip that disappeared never to be found.The good news is that Velo Orange lost no time in replacing the unit and they were very, very nice about it. I called on Monday and a replacement set arrived on Wednesday and they did not request the return of the failed QR.I would confidently order from Velo Orange and that includes the QR they sell. I don't think anyone should be put off by what seems to me to be a fluke. That said, I put a dab of epoxy on the C-Clip and then taped over the opening with some electrical tape. When properly mounted the tape isn't visible. I do this kind of thing because I'm pretty fanatical about reliability.

They fail easily. The cam is held in with a circlip, mine apparently broke (150 miles and 3 wheel changes total use), and my skewer came undone while I was riding. I cannot recommend this product. While it looks good, and it does look good, the quality is poor, and it cannot be trusted.
