This is the volume that picks up where the anime left off
Well not really, it actually picks up at the last chapter in this volume (Siege of Pieta Part I). The anime diverges from the manga at episode 21. To be honest, if you really like the Claymore universe, I'd stop watching the anime at episode 20 (I guess you could go and watch it for posterity's sake) and starting read the manga at this volume. This volume continues with the Siege of the North, where the Claymores fight the Awakened scouting party and ends with the introduction of Rigaldo, the Silver King. Lots of intense fighting, but there were moments of nice character development during the rest times, especially with Deneve/Undine and Clare/Flora.Reviewed on Amazon Kindle App for Windows 8.1.

Great Manga Should Read
This is a great series that my husband and I both love. I had to return some because he already had some but these came in great condition and were exactly what I expected. I can't wait for the next book to come out!

Developing
While this volume was a little harder to follow, it leads to significant world and plot developments being fleshed out while continuing the tradition of long fights with incredibly twisty monsters and few characters having plot armor. Yagi's investment in the organization and the various awakened beings, and in Peita's battle does start to show significant world-building. It can still be hard to differentiate some of the side characters through character-design but the art remains impressive despite that.

Awesome
Claymore is a manga about Yoma who pretend to be human in order to kill and eat the humans. The Claymore are the hybrid of the two stronger faster but still human with the ability to slay the Yoma which they do for a price. They travel from village to village slaying Yoma with nothing but the sword on their back using the Yoma abilities but slowly turning into a monster that they hunt. When the time comes a Claymore will send a black card to another claymore to be slain before the Yoma takes over and so they die as a human. In the 10th installment the Claymore’s have travelled to the north to face the rising threat of the Awakened Beings who are teaming up. Upon arriving at the city where the Claymore’s will make the stand Clare finds her companions that she fought an awakened being with before. Joining up with her fellow Claymore’s it comes to question that the organization has sent the trouble makers to their death. When it’s clear the Awakened beings don’t plan to give up so easy and the girls will be put to the test and all may not make it out alive. Raki has taken up with the Abyssal of the north without knowing it.I like Clare she’s a sword carrying slayer who isn’t afraid to die charging in risking her life. She may not survive every encounter but that doesn’t stop her from doing what has to be done protecting the humans. While most Claymore’s wouldn’t allow Raki to tag along she accepts him and maybe it’s partly because they are kindred but he needs her and she him to keep her humanity. I find Clare to be an intriguing character and can’t wait to see more about her back story as well as what’s going to happen next. We are given a little back story on Clare which introduces us to Teresa a Claymore whose life was changed by Clare.I’ve seen all of the episodes on Netflix a few years ago actually binge watched them over a long weekend. I love the concept for the Claymore the hybrids created using parts from the monsters that they have been created to fight. While I am familiar with the story it’s interesting to see it play out as I read it. The art is great it gives me just enough to create the story in my head as I read each detailed page. This is only my 2nd manga so I don’t have a lot to go on but so far I’m super exited to read the series. Claymore is a fast paced loaded with action series that is captivating right from the start hard to put down till the last page. Can’t wait to start the next one in the series they just keep getting better. I feel like a voracious Reader because I can’t get enough.

Wonderful Manga
Claymore, Vol. 10 / 978-1421511825I've watched the Claymore anime before following the manga, and I absolutely love both. I love the crisp, clean, black-and-white artwork, and I'm finding that the "action" panels are getting easier to follow as I progress into the series -- I think that the artists behind this series are truly talented and skilled at conveying a complex story and wonderfully emotive characters. And, on an excited side note, I notice now that the entire series is available in e-book form as Nook Books; I hope they'll be ported to other stores soon, to serve as many readers as possible.Volume 10 provides the following scenes:Scene 52: The Battle of the North, Part 3Scene 53: The Battle of the North, Part 4Scene 54: The Battle of the North, Part 5Scene 55: The Battle of the North, Part 6Scene 56: The Battle of the North, Part 7Scene 57: The Assault on Pieta, Part 1For those following along with the anime series, this volume corresponds to:Episode 19: The Carnage in the North, Part 2Episode 20: The Carnage in the North, Part 3Episode 21: Invasion of Pieta, Part 1Episode 22: Invasion of Pieta, Part 2Spoilers ahead! This volume continues the Northern Campaign arc and ends with Rigaldo taking out all the Claymore leaders except Miria. The Claymores gathered in Pieta deal with the three Awakened Beings sent as advance scouts, and then take some time after to heal their injured. Deneve has a conversation with Undine, and they discuss their survivor's guilt from both childhood and their stint as warriors. Flora and Clare spar in order to determine their relative strength, since Flora believes that the strong have a responsibility to be leaders. More Awakened Beings attack, and Rigaldo intervenes to remove the leaders from the battlefield. Here is where the manga really starts to diverge from the anime. There are a number of notable differences here; to begin with, the arc with Raki, Isley, and Priscilla is notably different. Raki does not travel to Pieta, nor does he even learn that there are Claymores fighting in the city. Nor is Priscilla revealed to Raki as an Awakened Being. Raki merely lives and travels with Isley and Priscilla, aware that the couple is odd but not fully understanding the significance of their actions.Meanwhile, in Pieta, Clare and Flora spar uninterrupted rather than being halted by Jean as in the anime. It is revealed that Clare is now marginally faster than Flora, who was hitherto the fastest warrior in the group. This is foreshadowing: ultimately, Clare will adopt Flora's Windcutter technique when she has to abandon use of the Quick-Sword in order to suppress her aura while in hiding.~ Ana Mardoll

The Battle in the North begins
This tenth volume of Claymore sees the first skirmish between the warrior women and an army of Awakened Beings. During the battle secrets are reviled and friendships made as the battle lines are drawn. Raki also finds himself in the north, in the company of new friends and desires to get stronger so he can stand beside Clare. This is a good volume of Claymore with some good, if hard to follow in places, battles and also had some nice dialogue between the characters. Raki's subplot is somewhat predictable but should prove to be interesting nonetheless. The volume leaves things in a very good position that should keep you interested in continuing reading.

The story intensifies
Wow, can the series get any more interesting? Secrets are being revealed and constructs in the world of the story start to wobble and crumble. Little by little so to tease the reader to stay glued to the story. Also the action is cool and while the villains are certainly extremely powerful it still seems natural - a rare situation in these kind of action packed stories. I love it.
