Ray-O-Vac I2DLED-B 3-LED 2 D-cell Industrial flashlight
I only just received this light in a nice two pack deal, and my initial impressions suggest it could well be the best 2 D-cell industrial flashlight ever made for the money. Ray-O-Vac always made some of the best hand-held flashlights and this one continues the tradition. You can spend more and get more than 3 LED's, but for what I paid this one is well made, priced reasonably (in my case) and has a very noticeably stronger beam strength and projection than my almost identical new 2 D-cell Ray-O-Vac Industrial model with just a regular Krypton bulb. Another thing I like about the Ray-O-Vac handheld industrial lights is they advertise it will survive a 7ft. drop test, and it separates the battery compartment from the lens area with a molded in wall. This protects the bulb and lens if the light is dropped so the weight of the batteries doesn't slam into the lens area with full force, which can ruin the bulb and socket on a lesser flashlight. This compartmented design also seems to eliminate that annoying and irritating flicker from battery & contact movement that so many D-cell lights exhibit - like a supposed heavy duty fairly new E - - Y I also own. The package claims up to a 55 hour run time which im guessing is with alkaline batteries. I'd also like to note this light comes pre-loaded with 2 non-alkaline HD batteries, somewhat unusual for a D-cell light to come with pre-installed batteries, but gives you a light that works literally "out of the box" -no theyre not alkalines, but they are freebies so to speak and you have to appreciate that. However, since they do come pre-installed I strongly recommend you remove the batteries first and make sure there are no defective leakers that have been drooling into the lights housing while on the shelf - you need to know this while you can still change them out or get a warranty replacement if needed in the unlikely event of a leaker. Far as that goes I changed mine to alkalines anyway for obvious reasons. I was also really happy to see they kept the same style slide switch as my older 3 D-cell Ray-O-Vac Industrial light, which is also a very well made light. The switch on this new one is again a nice heavy duty slide switch with a good ergonomic design that works well for the push-pull thumb motion of a cylindrical hand light. For anyone interested, the switch has the ability to function in a signalling mode due to the nature of the switches inherent feel when pushed lightly - better felt first hand than explained. The front lens retaining ring and battery cap appear to be made from the same material as the case, and both have a good fitting 4 thread design that screws down very secure and is unlikely to pop off if dropped from a reasonable height. The case is also chemical resistant and very well made with what feels like an extremely strong crush resistance, it's a very rigid almost indestructible molded design that should survive anything short of being run over by a car - and it might well survive that but dont hold me to it. Theres a very stong lanyard ring on the battery cap for hanging from a workbelt etc., and the battery cap spring is of a good guage and tension also helping eliminate flicker from weak contact tension. Removing the lens assembly reveals the much larger 3-LED lamp and reflector housing with a large copper contact, and since this is an LED light that should last for countless hours, theres no need for a spare bulb holder like the other Ray-O-Vacs come with - it wouldnt fit anyway as theres nowhere near enough room for another 3 LED assembly--but thats not a negative, LED's generally last so long spare bulb holders are almost a thing of the past. The only area I can't speak for on this light is long term performance and reliability. But again, as LED's are already known to be very long lived, and Ray-O-Vac lights are already known to be well made and reliable otherwise as this one certainly seems to be, barring any unknowns all tangible indicators suggest a combination of the same well known Ray-O-Vac build quality and reliability augmented by higher lighting power as well as longer lasting batteries and bulbs - a perfect combo. If I could have found one, I would rather have had a 3 D-cell version just to take it up a notch, and soon (and if) one becomes available Ill be checking it out against my slightly older 3 D-cell version with a Krypton bulb, also an excellent light-- and I plan to replace the krypton bulb with one of the new LED retrofits to make it even better. I could not find this flashlight in stores as I think it may have been a fairly recent introduction, so I had to purchase it online, and the best deal I found on Amazon was a two pack for under $24.00 including shipping - a good value in my book, especially for a two pack of three-LED Industrial lights like this with batteries installed. They arrived undamaged in a plastic bag inside a bubble envelope which kept shipping costs low- besides why waste a box on something nearly indestructible-? I admit to being biased toward Ray-O-Vac flashlights, but only because I have seen and tried numerous brands and designs in the last 40 years, and this brand has consistantly given me a well made product - I cant say that for some others ive owned. We've all had our share of junky dissappointing flashlights, and I feel qualified to judge from experience. They say you usually get what you pay for, well ive found thats not always true in flashlights. Some brands claim to be heavy duty and may even look it, but show up as poorly made and dissappointing at the worst possible time. I dont think that will be the case with the Ray-O-Vac 12LED-B, it comes from a long line of quality Ray-O-Vac products and that pedigree speaks for itself with no help from me. From what I see so far, I highly recommend this light for its build quality, performance and general overall feel of solidity. I dont think you'll go wrong with this one. Mike

Item sent is not as described or pictured.
FIRST, UNDERSTAND AMAZON IS NOT RESPONSIBLE for the problems withthis flashlight. All the flashlights mentioned here are supplied straight from China.Seems to be basically the same makers, just putting different names on lights. And this particular flashlight was in a small white bag with a sticker identifying itas "industrial 3 LED 2D flashlight".And it just is not that.I needed a 3-LED flashlight. The title of this item is "Industrial 3 LED 2D Flashlight".It came in a bag labeled as such. But the flashlight in the bag is not 3-LED, and has only one light.Same thing happened with re-ordering an Energizer brand flashlightpreviously bought last year, that was great. The re-ordered items arrived, and I found they had been switched out with a regular 1-light flashlight. And they were wimpy and dim.Just don't be surprised if you get the same item. Now I am concerned that if I order any similar looking flashlight, even if the picture shows 3 LED lights, it will again be the same problem.I have not found a good way to make Amazon aware of this. That is frustrating, because it is always the easiest way for me to buy such things.

LED Version of an old, reliable standby
We have several of these placed throughout our house in case of a power outage, or if you just need a flashlight. This is the newer model of the old traditional Rayovac flashlight, with a brighter, longer-lasting LED bulb assembly. We've had these for a few years now, and just added four more. With LED bulbs, we have yet to replace any of the D batteries in any of the lights. Also, they don't roll when laid on a surface, and there is an integrated loop, should you want to hang the light on a hook. Simple, reliable, and very traditional.

Great light for about a year.
This flashlight puts out a very bright light light far better then their older light with the filament bulb. Unfortunately after using the flashlight maybe once or twice a week, the original Rayovac batteries started leaking. I had the light hanging by the clip on the back so it was upside down. The leaking battery liquid stuff ran down to the bulb end of the light and proceeded to strip the shinny stuff off the cone around the bulb. It lost about 1/3 of its brightness plus the switch was somehow (corroded I guess) and is difficult to get to work. The light is just about worthless now.

Seems well made, but light beam is uneven and unfocused
Good flashlight, but the light output is not as bright or as focused as the Energizer Industrial LED flashlight. The latter is no longer available. This Rayovac LED flashlight has a nice feel, it is lighter than the Energizer light and I like the slider switch much better than the push button switch on the Energizer light. I knocked off two stars because the light beam is unfocused and uneven and there are many halos or prism bands of color around the beam of light (when shinning on something like a wall). The Energizer light has a broader, very even, and tight round beam of light (like a flood lamp). The Rayovac beam is also somewhat dimmer, but bright enough, perhaps because it has three LEDs compared to the Energizer's four LEDs.This wouldn't be a big issue if the beam was more focused and even, and it did not have the circular halos of color surrounding the beam of light. The body of the Rayovac light seems well made and I like the ring at the butt end of the light for hanging on a hook.

Super White Beam Flashlight
I was skeptical when viewing this listing. First, the led power was unlisted, second- product details were scarce. When I received it, the packaging was the typical China plastic clamshell- tough to open, boxcutter or good scissor recommended. The batteries are crap: HD/no name. I would pay a few cents more for branded alkaline batteries that last. I subbed my own Energizers, so much for buying Rayovac alkalines-they're only good when they're free!!!The beam is very bright so I bought a second light for a spare and I'll use a pair of Duracells in those- so much opportunity lost by Rayovac/Spectra to convince me that their batteriesare worth a s*%#~. Does anyone actually pay the packaging designer to put this together? If I need to be so hardass then there's so much wrong in it.
