Q: As of 5/22/17, this item shows "4 count" as part of the description. Are there really 4 sponges included, or is it just 1 sponge?

Q: Is it gentle? I used to have an exfoliating spounge which was gentler then a pumice stone but still took off calluses easily.

Yes. There is a soft , but solid, side to the sponge and the scrubbie side is gentle, not rough like a pumice. I use these most every day in the shower , but when my calluses get worse, I use the pumice block. It won't take off seriously nasty callouses, but is great to maintain your feet once the callouses are removed.

Q: Is this for dry/wet use?

wet use. I use it with water. it may work dry I don't know.
