Clear without shine. Works well
Purchased this to spray a protective layer over painting on wood I purchased while in Santorini. I was hanging the paintings in our bathroom and wanted to make sure the heat and humidity didn’t damage it. It was easy to apply and dried on very quickly and you don’t see a difference before or after, which is good. Overall, it worked well.

It does darken the color slightly. But after a few hours it lightens a little.
I won't lie, I work with pastels, and I hate sanded papers. So I blend a lot. This fixative allows me to layer with ease.Fixative make the colors darker, so I just adjust for this. This Fixative doesn't darken the colors too badly. It really is smudgeproof

Good product
I'd just sent a negative review, but I am here to apologize! Picked up the wrong can. The right can was sent. And we used it on another picture and it turned out great! So Very Sorry

Won’t spray
Also would give this zero stars if I could. This is the second can I have ordered on Amazon that doesn’t work. It sprayed for about 30 seconds and quit. Have shaken, as per directions, and also tried unclogging the nozzle. Nothing works. It almost acts as if it loses pressure. I’m also now seeing this same issue on other reviews. There are a lot of good reviews so I didn’t even think to look closer until I had my own issues. Says product isn’t returnable, but if you do the chat, you can get a refund, as I did. I figured maybe Amazon just had some bad cans of this, so I went to the local art store and purchased two more. Just got home, shook both cans, and same issue! Basically this UV spray is completely useless because it stops spraying almost immediately.

Does NOT change colour in light, ever. Excellent product.
Buy it. Low odour, fast drying, non-yellowing, does not crack on canvas. I use it on charcoal, pastels, panpastels, inks, coloured pencil, acrylic, chalk, graphite and watercolour. Paper, canvas, wood and colour board all accept it without issue. Recoats well. You can overlay layers of contrasting media, between coats of this, and it all stays put. Place oil paint over the top coat only, and don't recoat with this product, oil paint needs a year to completely 'set' and this is not designed to be on top of fresh oil paint; but it perfect for under it. I often sandwich other media and do glazing with oils over what I have created, from greyscale/grisaille or coloured peices for great depth.Irreplicable product. I have tried all kinds of clear products over the ears, this is the best. Expensive but worth it. You will not be sorry investing in a can if you value keeping your colours intact while hung on a wall.

Satin finish
I bought the satin finish. It does not change the appearance of finished watercolor. (It does not add any shine to it). I might like a bit more shine personally.I had no problems with the sprayer, no unwanted droplets. Must apply outside, and then leave outside in the shade for about an hour for smell to completely disappear.I used 2 coats.

Excellent for pan pastels
I'm so pleased with this product! (the 1374 Fine Art Fixatif) I use pan pastels in my sketchbook and the pastels transfer/smudge on the facing pages when the sketchbook is closed. A few coats of the fixatif solved the problem - it's dry and not tacky, dries smooth, and leaves only the slightest satin finish, and isn't heavy.

The Best
My favorite art fixative. Wish it was easier to find but I will always come back here to grab a can or two. The best!
