I See Summer Kindle Edition

I wanted a summer book that offered something different from the usual fare like eating watermelon and going to the beach... I wanted to broaden kids imaginations as to what summer is really like (we don't have 4 seasons where we live). Overall, this book was just ok but did not meet what I wanted.I loved how the book started with sunshine, lake, sailboats, sea gulls... which is exactly what I wanted. I was hoping road trips and camping were next and how hot the days were, BUT I was wrong! The book took an abrupt turn into rainy days with lots of flowers. Umm - I guess somewhere it rains in summer and has lots of flowers, but that does not describe where we live and really goes against what I was trying to teach (technically rain is not limited to spring, but it does help kids to associate more rain and flowers with spring whereas summer is hotter, drier, with lots of bright sunshine per day).I did like the rest of the book, even though it had some of the regular fair like fireflies and beach trips, BUT I grew tired of seeing the kids playing outside quite a lot and I would have preferred some indoor options like: a pillow fort in the house, reading books inside, or playing board games because on the hottest days you really need to seek shelter indoors.There are so many summer books on the market, but none of the them really address WHAT IS SUMMER and focus mostly on things people do like drinking lemonade, visiting the beach, playing outside, or eating a BBQ (technically those are all things you can do in other seasons as well). I just am looking for a series of books about the seasons that actually focuses on the seasons themselves and covers their differences.

Great book to target those core vocabulary words “I” and “see” for my students as well as some other core action words - lots of great fringe/thematic vocabulary too! Love the pictures!

Great for teaching the seasons to a preschooler. The vibrant pictures match well with the predictable text.

I love these series and anything that is not only enjoyable to read; but educational.

Muy pequeño! Lo quería para mis clases de inglés y es demasiado pequeño. Vocabulario muy básico, no me sirve ni para explicar el vocabulario sobre el verano... solo vienen palabras con la misma estructura repetida, no una historia como al que era lo que esperaba. Encima la devolución no era gratuita...
