Godsend.
After trying 3 brands of progresive multifocus glasses, this are by far the best - in fact, these are the only ones I use. These work amazingly well for me and the transitions are well done. Other brand transitions are too harsh or not well executed. Well done Foster Grant. Since I have also bought 3 pairs of these Foster Grant on different magnifications maybe I can help you select. I used to have 3 glasses on different spots on my home, car and office, because I need to be able to see at different distances. This happens after your presbyopia advances as you get older. I understand that if you are just starting with this inevitable condition and it has not worsen yet, you might not see the immense benefit of multifocus glasses, simply because you are still able to focus at mid and far ranges. But it is only a matter of time for presbyopia to advance, and only then will you appreciate this magnificent product. This glasses allow me to replace all my 3 pairs of glasses with only one pair, and not have to lower my head to see outside the rim, movement that I truly hate because it makes me feel old. So, this is how I use them: I usually read with 2.50, so I have 2.50 for my room. For going out and general home wearing I found that even thou 2.50 is my reading graduation, 1.75 works best for my home, car, and general use - and let me explain why. They give me the perfect magnification for walking, driving and watching TV (using upper, which is about 1.25 I guess), also the perfect for midrange viewing (about 1.50 I guess), and, though not the perfect close reading magnification, the lower 1.75 magnification still allows me to read labels, restaurant menus, read my cel phone, see products when shopping, see my car dashboard and see what I am holding in my hand. So, thou I read with 2.50, I use 1.75 for all this activities. No more lowering my head, no more keeping 3 glasses around, no more not being able to see everything while going out, no more changing glasses. I feel younger with these. I still keep single focus 2.50 for things like working at the computer, but this multifocus have given me freedom at every other activity. Thank you for selling this glasses.

Great Glasses for Computer Work.
These are pretty slick. I spend most (actually all) of my work time at the computer. I have a couple of screens and my focus has to shift from up close on the printed work next to my keyboard to the one screen to the other that is a bit farther away. Also had to be able to read and identify some items on the desk even farther away (price list/spec sheets). I had two sets of reading glasses of different magnification that I was switching between plus I had to do some work with no reading glasses at all. Was still straining my eyes and it was, frankly, a pain to keep up with the switching back and forth. These glasses have enough depth of focus for me that they stay on all day and work really well as the only pair I use. Stuff by the keyboard is easy and comfortable to see and the screens and most of the desk are a very comfortable focus as well. That part would be a 5 star. They get the four star instead because some of the reviews I looked at said that they eliminate the need to look over your reading glasses when looking into the distance or talking with someone more than a few feet away. Not so for me. Still have to be looking over the tops for pretty much anything over 3 feet away. So deduct one star for that, but a solid 5 star for the computer work that I suspect they were really designed for. I plan to get another, trendier style, soon. These were the $19 test pair. Will be willing to spend more for the better looking ones now that I know they work for me.

Stylish, truly multi focus, and comfortable
Love these new Foster Grant Multifocus Glasses! After seeing these advertised on television, I decided to give them a try and they are wonderful! I am new to having to wear reading glasses - everyone jokes how it's a birthday gift around 50 years old yet it's no gift. While some of the glasses can be stylish, I find them to be annoying and uncomfortable. Annoying to take on and off and then have to carry them for the few minutes that I'll need them again - maybe just to read a menu. Uncomfortable because I don't need them most of the time so I end up putting them on my head and then they are just an uncomfortable headband. Well, these are different!!! Foster Grant Multifocus are a different kind of reading glass. 1. They are stylish. To be honest, I ordered 4 different style in order to choose which ones to buy for my husband and myself. I chose the Conan style and he chose the Sawyer style. Honestly it was hard to choose between the Sawyer and the James as both looked great on him. The James are a bit smaller, plastic frame while the Sawyer were a bit more squared off, a bit wider, and metal frame. I might keep the Sawyers as a second pair for myself! All were stylish just each a bit different. 2. They are honestly multi focus so I don't need to take them on and off. For me the best part of this is to be able to type on my laptop, turn my head to read a piece of fine print on paper and then return to the computer screen to type. Ahhh! No more taking my glasses on and off again and again. I probably won't walk around in them yet that brings me to the next point. 3. They are comfortable. While the multifocus says that you can leave them on to be able to look straight ahead for distance, I didn't find this the most comfortable - while not blurry, it was just a bit straining. So...I put them up on my head. Wow! Foster Grant has wonderful spring arms so they are a very comfortable head band! yeah! While not the least expensive, I am very very happy with our new Foster Grant Multifocus glasses and will be buying more! I appreciate other purchasers' reviews and that is why I choose to write them now. Amazon reviews help me choose which products to buy. I sort product choices by Average Customer Review to help decide which item to choose. I didn't find a lot of reviews for Foster Grant Multifocus as they are quite new. I have found customer reviews to be very helpful and hope that I am paying it forward by providing this review. Thank you to Foster Grant for making this nice product and to Amazon for selling it and shipping it so quickly. I love Amazon!

Outstanding for musicians! Update on the frame lowers rating
My distance vision is fine without glasses; but I have age-related presbyopia (close focus problems). I have used readers that are good while reading, but you are constantly putting them on and off, leaving them places, etc. I have had bifocal readers that are plain on top and reading power on the bottom of the lens. They stay on for longer periods of time, but the line is often in the way, especially for a musician! Notes disappear, lines are broken or missing, or you turn the page too soon, etc.! These multifocus glasses are SO much better than progressives (out-of-focus on the sides and expensive!). The vision correction is continuous across these glasses (left-to-right), and the transitions are smooth completely in the vertical direction. You hardly notice them and you adjust completely and almost instantly to the gradient of power. I sing with an a cappella group, I play handbells, I perform in a band and an orchestra, and I march in parades with a flip-folder of music. In these groups, the music is at different distances from my face and so each group needs a different magnification for ideal reading of music for me. I do have two pairs: one is 2.75X and the other is 1.75X; the one pair is for the flip-folder and hand-held music, the weaker pair is for handbell, band, and orchestra concert performance. The price is great for covering such a range and giving such excellent vision. The James model I have settled into is mechanically superior to the Sawyer model I started with; the James frames are stronger and the metal-plastic joint at the hinges on Sawyer is the weak link. Since I'm reviewing James here, these are a full 5-stars for me! If they came in a sunglasses version (gray lenses), I would be buying them for sure! Update July (6 months after purchase): Unfortunately my first pair was fine from Christmas (purchase) to summer band. In July the frame unexpectedly broke through the nose pad for no apparent reason; I'm guessing the frame is too brittle and/or the lens at 2.5 diopters was slightly too large or too thick for the frame to keep holding it in the heat of summer. The glasses are still useable, but the crack across the nosepiece is a gap of about 1 mm and this "bites" the nose skin. I've ordered a new pair because I really like them otherwise, and I'm hoping this pair was just a "fluke." If the new pair snaps on it own in the same way, I'll update my review again more negatively. I'm holding back two stars because I expect readers to last longer than six months. The plastic frame needs to be MORE plastic and less brittle.

Love the style, not the color tone it adds while wearing
I love these glasses, I have ordered them before, BUT..... the last couple of pairs I ordered have a color tint to them and it drives me crazy. they are great for the price but break very easily. I love the multi reader views and would really love to keep buying them, I just hate the colortone it puts on everything. The best way to explain the color change is put a white paper towel behind the lens and look at the pink to red tint that shows. I cannot wear them at night because it takes away my night vision.

Do not buy! Very poor frame plastic finish and quality
Update 03/01/2021 My third (!) set broke! Extremely poor quality of frame material. Frame around lenses notoriously breaks even with low usage after about 4 to 6 six months. It appears to be a shrinkage of the material that causes such a high stress that it starts to crack and break. One cannot fit the parts together at the crack and a gap of over 1/16" remains indicating why the frame broke in the first place and that it has in fact shrunk. Black paint coating also starts within a few months bubbling and peeling. I ordered these glasses first time back in late October 2019 and received them in early November 2019. So far so good I thought. Within less than a couple of months the disintegration started. The glass frame, which is a clear plastic coated in black "paint" coating started to peel off and little bits and pieces. Within a couple of weeks it was in so many areas loose that I could remove the remains easily with my fingernail. Most likely the product comes from a certain country that is in recent days often mentioned in the news... So I thought, oh what the heck and cleared all the loose paint off ending up with a clear frame version. April 6, 2020 I encountered the same thing many have written about here: the frame cracked, suddenly broke into pieces without being exposed to any external stress and the lenses fell out. Unfortunately one of the lenses was irretrievably lost as the frame suddenly fell apart without warning. Upon closer inspection I noticed that the remaining parts of the frame had a lot of cracks in it. It appears that the plastic frame shrinks rather rapidly over time and thus the tension that builds up by the lens sitting in place eventually causes the plastic to crack in several areas. Some reviewers here have posted images that show exactly the same damages I encountered. I'm not unreasonable to expect that a pair of glasses must last longer than just less than 6 months. I also think that Amazon shall introduce some form of warranty with each product other than the brief return window so it can be returned to the manufacturer or at least an exchange if it fails after a few months. I'm not willing to buy every 6 months a new set of glasses!

Great glasses for a great price
These are the best multifocal glasses I have tried. They are even better than my prescription ones. They are quite study, you don't have to be delicate with them. The usable area of the lens is very good compared to others I have tried. There is plenty of area for computer distance viewing and for up close reading. I like to keep my large computer screen slightly more then arms distance away and these glasses work great for that distance. This also make them great for restaurants since the reading part is good for menus and the computer part is good for seeing the person across from you.
