AN EXCELLENT UKULELE At A Great Price
I purchased this a week ago and it arrived today. It was very well packed inside a big cardboard box. The uke's own packaging is very attractive - off-white box with discreet, understated labelling in a nice script and each item in the kit separately packaged - not unlike Apple, if you've ever bought an iPhone, iPod or Mac computer. And what a generous kit - digital tuner (nice, smaller than most), 2 picks (I don't use them), a very neat capo, a nice quality cleaning cloth (probably microfibre but feels like soft chamois), a good quality padded gig-bag zipped with front pocket, a finger shaker (me neither), and an allen key for removing the neck should you wish to do so. All these goodies are in a black, zipped plastic pouch. The uke itself is further packed inside a a soft plastic bag similar to what many electrical items are wrapped in. It's all very impressive and suggests quality. And what a uke it is, quite unlike any other I've seen.. It's a beautiful thing and is a joy to hold. The fretboard is very slightly radiused which is rare in an inexpensive instrument and it has markers at the fifth, seventh, tenth and twelfth frets plus side-markers (again rare). The frets are bright metal, very attractive, and are very smoothly finished at the sides. It has strap pins, one on the base and another on the heel. (I like these so much Im going to fit them to my o other ukes). Peering inside it all looks well finished. And it plays well, yes, a delightful sound. Everyone here has mentioned the strings but I hsve to say I didn't find them too bad. They look like clear nylon fishing line but I've had worse. I did change them though, for a set of Aquila Super Nyguts, only because I had a spare set handy. The other thing everyone has mentioned is the volume. Although it is a bit quiet, it's perfectly loud enough for playing at home, but I wouldn't play it at my uke club or on a gig. All in all this is a lovely ukulele and if I had bought this last year at £48, which is what it was priced at then, I would be well pleased. But I didn't. I bought it a week ago for £20. Yes £20 for the whole kit. I've spent more on a gig-bag in the past. Unbelievably good value. The day after I bought it the price had leapt to £22 and now, a week later, is "currently unavailable". I'm not surprised. If it comes back on sale grab one. You'll love it.

Truly astonishing
These are brilliant ukes. They are really well made and the finish is impeccable. They are made from HPL (High Pressure Laminate), it’s a material that Martin are now using on some of their ukes. It is strong and durable and the tone is unique. Rich and surprisingly mellow. The playability is simply astonishing, intonation is spot on all the way up the neck, which is ‘bolt on’. The finish is top class with no sharp edges. Both the nut and saddle are well set and the saddle is ‘compensated’. I have read criticism of the strings which are low tension. They do require a bit of care when playing to ensure you don’t bend them out of tune, but they sound good....and you can change them if you really don’t like them. The action is low and very playable and this means you learn to play with a lighter touch....and that’s the beauty of this ukulele, it is so playable. I leave it out and just pick it up every time I walk past and just play it. That is my guide to a great Uke. If you want to play it, then it’s doing what it should. These are made in China, not made out of wood, but HPL, by an unknown manufacturer and they are great. I can only criticise one area, volume for the player. They project really nicely towards the listener, but not the player. When playing in a group it’s really difficult to hear myself, but that’s such a minor issue when it’s such a lovely instrument. I bought this as a travel Uke, because HPL is not affected by humidity or temperature change, but mostly play it at home because it’s just nice to play and a bit quiet. Oh yes, you get a quality case, strap, capo, spare strings...a lesson other manufacturers should learn. And the packaging is the best I have ever seen.I have a large collection of ukuleles including some handmade ones that cost considerably more. This ukelele was a chance purchase, I wanted the round body version but got sent the pineapple shape as the round ones were out of stock. It is a great ukulele. No, it doesn’t sound like my Bruko, Ko’Aloha or my Pono Ukes but it has a unique tone of its own, and, I really like it. I love this Uke and am very interested in what Enya will bring out next. I would love to try more from them. A truly great purchase.

Terrible strings, but a good instrument
The whole package is an amazing deal, especially if you are a beginner. The case is good quality and we'll padded, especially at this price point. I probably wouldn't have bought any of the extras personally, but I certainly won't complain about having them for free! The instrument itself is very well put together. Action is perfect and it has a lovely tone. It is however a bit on the quiet side... this is not and instrument for gigging and would be completely lost in a jam.The strings are horrible. I changed then after the first day for a set a Aquila I had lying around ( black with wound low g). The new strings were a huge improvement, but the low g overpowers the other notes and I prefer reentrant tuning on a soprano, so I'll be swapping them again soon.I think with the right strings this could be a very good beginner or practice instrument. I love the shape, it's a little bit different from everything else on the market and at this price is a steal. Highly recommended.
