Great Novel
Really good story involving animals, organized crime, and international trade. Highly recommend to any fan of adventure or Africa

Wonderful yarn about one of the least understood wild animals
Wonderful yarn about one of the least understood wild animals, including perspective about their shrinking natural habitat. Amazingly intelligent and highly socialized family groups - and recognition and sorrow at the loss of members of their species. The herds are guided by senior females, and family order fails when the old leader dies or is killed, endangering the entire herd.

Explores great themes, but gets a R (for violence)
It's well-written and suspenseful. Fast-moving (if not entirely believable) action pulls well-drawn characters through a compelling story. All the components of a great read, but the graphic description of violent acts committed by both men and beasts is almost a deal-breaker. What saves this book is the focus on insatiable human lust for power and wealth, and how this corruption affects and destroys the natural order of life. Creating awareness of the situation that exists in Africa is important, the book provides insight of the ongoing struggle between the haves and the have-nots and instructs us that if it is allowed to continue, the results will be detrimental to us all.

Really good and vivid book.
This was the second Wilbur Smith book that I read and I was still very impressed. I have never been to Africa but I got a good feeling for the locations in th book. It made me think a comfortable safari trip might be very interesting.

Great Book!
One of Wilbur Smith's best books ever. A little different from his Africa novels of earlier times, this book is set in modern times and the action moves like a runaway express train - one simply had to fly through the pages, it was so difficult to put the book down. Very well done Mr. Wilbur Smith, you sure can tell a terrific tale!

A classic Wilbur Smith. Wonderful!
Reading almost 600 pages of “Elephant Song” was a wonderful experience. 1990s African continent was a dreadful place, and to some extent it still is. The destructive hand of autocratic regimes, poaching of wild animals, unaccounted mass killings of indigenous tribes and other ethnic groups, etc. have destroyed Africa's soul. In this explosive backdrop, Wilbur Smith’s wonderfully woven story of thrilling suspense and breath-taking story-telling makes this book a ripping yarn. The book is truly a marvellous adventure story set in the violent African heartland.

Elephant Song

Not his best
I have read almost if not all of the books written by W. Smith and this was in my opinion one of his weakest writingss.
