Wow. Went through 1 1/4" walnut like butter
I have used trim bits before. For a recent project, I needed to trim 1.25" walnut to a template for furniture legs. And I had one portion of the leg that was thinner, so I was deeply concerned about tear-out.My previous trim bits had 1/4" shanks. There is no comparison to my previous bits. This bit has a 1/2" shank, 3/4" cutting diameter, and sharp cutting edges. I usually only write reviews when I am greatly impressed, and this bit earns my praise. The bit cut cleanly, with no tear-out. It cut so easily, that I needed to double-check to make sure it WAS cutting. It was, and very nicely.I have only used it for one job so far, so I can't speak to durability.

Top Bearing Failed
The bit was working perfectly fine, making clean cuts everytime, but after a few uses, te top bearing bent and the bit started to vibrate a LOT! After that every cut was too deep, as the bearing was not working properly as it should be.Haven't used the base bearing yet, but I hope it will last longer than 5 uses.

quality made, relatively expensive , some tearout issues in particular "brittle" wood cases
Bit is a high quality product, but since there are no such thing as specialized good all weather car tires - I suppose it is silly to expect the same from cutting bits/tools for all types of wood. thus and then this bit is quite expensive since it is not a Jack of all trades:)remembering freud's thin kerf 24 - 40 teeth 7 1/4 inch saw blades priced roughly at 10 bucks (sort of:):)where cutting teeth require as much precision and engineering inputsuch good blades are so low priced , sold made and consumed in large numbers makes little sense to go and sharpen them - you save time and money on gas or mail.SO thus and then:) at this state of our marketing world it is a router bit of just two cutting surfaces sporting high price while manufactured in automated production machines just like all lower priced quality bits are.like any bit it is not perfect for some woods- even not so hard woods like Padaukmanaged to tear out regularly my Padauk work pieces when the wood fiber changes its direction while cutting a circle with template.I thought it's my lack of experience with particular wood - tried this and tried that - delicate approach - slow slow feed, etc still the same tear out repeated.- quite unexpectedly and unpredictablythen I remembered that "true" industry cutting bits with complex geometry start at 100 bucks roughlyIf true high tech sharpening cost (I have not done yet) also cancels out sense to do it - then I say this price for added bearing and out of set single piece marketing is a high one compared to available low priced lower quality Chinese bits/sets - for amateur and semi pro use. particular size and dimensions of this bit are very well suited in template cutting when a limited shallow cutting depth is required . Good "looks" and very good smooth quality cutting in most cases of woods and plywood particularly.

Worth it to spend a few extra bucks on quality bits.
When i bought my first router, a Ridgid R2401 Laminate Trim Router , I figured I would try some of the less expensive router bits (Ryobi). This almost turned me off to routing, as there was a lot of tear out, etc, with those bits. What do you expect for a set that has 21 bits for $50?I then bought a bigger router, a Hitachi KM12VC 11 Amp 2-1/4-Horsepower Plunge and Fixed Base Variable Speed Router Kit with 1/4-Inch and 1/2-Inch Collets , and bought a Freud bit in 1/2in shank, and gave it one last try. I was simply amazed at how much better of a cut I got with the Freud. So I ordered the other 4 1/2in bits from that site as they were on clearance for $10 each. I figured that I would also buy some Freud bits in 1/4in shank for my little trim router, as it is a joy to work with and way less heavy. You may have to make a couple of more passes, but it is a great little router.I then looked into making patterns and templates, and figured I would buy this bit to test them on a pattern (push stick) that I had made. I used my scroll saw and got as close as I could with it, then used this bit to follow the pattern. The bearing being on the template and the bit finishing the job. It works just as good as the bigger shank bit. I mean, you don't even have to sand the edges, that's how well these work.I would suggest to anyone to spend the few extra bucks and get the few bits that you will use all the time. Get a straight, flush trim, round over, pattern, and maybe a chamfer. You will not be disappointed and many patterns can be made using these few.

Quality
Without doubt Freud makes the best router bits and though their bits are more expensive, are well worth the cost. They cut much cleaner, take less effort to use, and last much longer. I've used routers for the last 60 years and have bought about every router bit-cheap or expensive- out there. I started out cheap (because I had little choice then) and still remember my first Freud bit. I also still remember my amazement at the ease of that first cut in comparison to other bits I had used up to that point!

Bearing retainer not tight
I always love the quality of Freud tools however I purchased this bit for making stair stringers and part way through the job the bearing walked up the shaft destroying the stringer and my pattern.4 hours of work and $100 of material later.Make sure you check that the Allen screw is tight on the bearing retainer. I think it is a 1/16” Allen wrench but I could not confirm this anywhere in the product literature.

Freud con eso basta para saber que es lo mejor
La bronca es bastante buena...la calidad de la marca es lo mejor...muy filosa y los cortes los deja súper finos en madera de pino...parota y mdf no se diga
