works and lasts
My first straightener is still working and is 20 years old. I got a second because I wanted one in the garage, as well as on the boat. Uses are bare steel, copper or titanium wire, though this scores the product. It even works on plastic coated wire, if you don't squeeze it but so tight. I use 12 or 14 ga. electrical wire to secure tomato cages to stakes. It is more UV and weather resistant than anything else.If the wire is more than 5 feet long, it helps to secure an end in a vise and walk the straightener away from it.I don't award 5 stars unless the product is life-changing, but this one is close to that standard.

too small
too small for down rigger cable, cable ate thru the metal ridges on tool, I didn't see a larger one offered which may have worked!?!?

Even "Large" model is small, the ad picture is decieving.
Its way smaller than it appeared. I checked to be sure I ordered the larger of the models offered and its still small enough to be difficult to use on wire gages at the upper limit of the directions. Slips off larger wires easily and doesnt straighten them very well. Small kinks cant really be smoothed out with this on 14awg and larger wires.

I use this on 20-45# berkley premade uncoated braided wire (probably 7 strand), it is awesome!! one of the most important tools I have when fishing toothy fish in the jungle and weight is a factor flying in.

025 wire the straightener would grab the wire where the unit is hinged together and scrape up the wire making it worse than when starting
This item was TINY. Definitely not the one pictured unless the hand model is 2ft tall with hands the size of a toddler. Still I tried to use this but on .025 wire the straightener would grab the wire where the unit is hinged together and scrape up the wire making it worse than when starting. I also have the larger plastic model which works bust just barely.

They do work, but are small
I'm using this tool to straighten s/s 316L 20ga wire for spinning lure shafts. Works well for what I need. The instructions say "grip in fist" but they are just longer than my index finger is wide. So I "grip in two fingertips and a thumb" and it does what it is supposewd to.
