Cost-effective way to block out the sun, but no side-mount brackets
I would so love to give these shades a 5-star review; they do completely block out the sun and are attractive. However, they have one fatal flaw: The supplied brackets will *only* mount from front-to-back, not from the sides. My windows make it difficult to hang a shade properly from front-to-back (the brackets mount either from the top of the window, or from the back behind the shade, only, and neither of those locations work for me) and it is a surprising lack in an otherwise-nicely-designed shade.I bought two of these, one from a warehouse seller (you know who I mean) and the other from the primary seller, with the second shade being discounted for damage to the packaging only. They are identical except for the deliberately-different sizes that I needed. The discounted one arrived intact, while the full-price one had the side caps come off in transit and some rubber strips -- presumably for weight -- had to be re-inserted into the bottom rail, and the caps re-installed.The shades are easy to install if you either want to hang from the wall above the window, or if you have a flat surface at the top of your window; unfortunately, neither of these options work for me. Mounting above the window causes the shade to stick out too far and therefore not fit into the window space nor be near enough to the panes. The tops of my windows all have molding pieces that don't offer a smooth spot within the window's frame, so also would stick out. I would have been happy to buy side-mount brackets separately if they were offered in a design compatible with hanging these shades. Some of the questions ask if the shades totally block out the light: they definitely do, and I am attaching two pictures taken on yet another overly-sunny day, showing my very-damaged window in my very-old fixer-upper. It is easy to see how thoroughly the shade blocks the sun, against the light that unfortunately spills in from the side due to the mounting-bracket issue forcing me to hang from the top. The contrast above the window, in the shadow cast by the shade, is very visible. I will have thermal drapes over these as well, but that is not so much due to the light blocking as the old single-pane windows I currently have, vs the heat wave we're having here in middle-America.One reviewer complained that the shades didn't have end caps or a cover over the top rail. Mine came with end caps for both the bottom and top rails (although I had to re-install them due to the first shipment not being well-packed). However, all the shades and blinds that I've seen for decades, that have a top rail for mounting (as opposed to a roller shade), have the top open; I don't see this as a reason to discount the rating, as it seems inherent to the design of virtually all similar window treatments. The mounting process takes as little time as any type of cellular shade or venetian blinds: two screws per bracket and, given the way the shade's top rail mounts to the brackets, the location left-to-right is not critical. I used different screws than those supplied, just to make it easier to screw in the screws to some old wood, but this is not necessary. Pre-drilling the holes is recommended. Both shades I bought were in the "linen" color, and the reviewer is correct who mentions that this is really a medium soft-brown and nothing like what I'd expect from "linen", though the photos on the catalog page seem accurate (given color variations on computer screens). The "linen" color is a bit darker than a brown natural-linen suit I had many years ago, but it is quite a bit lighter and more neutral than "chocolate". However, I knew what I was getting and it fits my purposes, but do NOT buy "linen" if you are expecting something like a dark off-white with flecks of brown (as "linen" color often means.)The fabric (?) of these shades seems durable, and the insides of the cells are of some shiny material that obviously reflects sunlight back rather than allowing it through, so the shades darken as much as anything I have tried to hold out the intense sun we are currently having during a heat wave. I have been told -- but have no personal experience to validate -- that cellular shades also provide the best insulation value for any window treatment; I can personally aver that they work far better than any blinds and most roll-up shades, and that "blackout" means what it should mean (as opposed to the "blackout" drapes I recently bought which let wayyyyy too much light through.)All in all, I'd have easily given these shades a 5-star review if it weren't for the limitations regarding the side brackets. They are a cost-effective easily-installed way to keep out the sun.

real blackout shade. Everything is included in the box just need a drill + drill bits
"Blackout" is overused. I learned that when shopping for something to help me sleep during the day. This one exceeded my expectations. For the area that the shade covers there is no sunlight coming in. Unfortunately this is the closest fit, and it leaves a half inch on either side. That's hardly a defect of the product, and there are solutions for that little bit of light on the edges. I might just leave it because I'm happy with how dark my bedroom is.This is the one for you, if you work the graveyard shift.

Look Expensive and Custom!
These shades are really beautiful. They look like high-quality, custom shades, but without the high price and expensive installation fees. They have transformed the look of our living room and we're going to put these on all of our windows in the house. Installation is very easy--once I read the directions and got my tools ready, I had mine up in less than 5 minutes per shade. I ordered my shades to the exact width of my windows, without subtracting anything, and they fit perfectly. My only suggestion is to make sure you have about 3/4 inch border around your window frame if you plan to mount inside the frame. The screw holes for the mounting hardware require at least that much space. Otherwise, they can be easily mounted outside the frame.

Either I got a lemon or the quality is terrible. Anyone know of a better brand I can ...
I bought this shade March 19, 2017 and on June 20th 2017 as I was pulling it down the internal chord broke and now it will not lift up. It's past return window. Either I got a lemon or the quality is terrible. Anyone know of a better brand I can buy another one from? Or can DEZ take it back due to manufacturers defect? Very frustrating.

Love these cellular shades! I have bought both "Blackout" and "Light Filtering" varieties from DEZ and they have all been great!
Love these cordless cellular shades! I have bought both "Blackout" and "Light Filtering" varieties from DEZ and they have all been great! Custom sizes without the fuss and high cost of the big box stores. Quality is top notch on both varieties and mounting brackets are very simple to install. In fact, the brackets seem to have been improved from my first order about 2 years ago. They also extend and retract fluidly and I expect them to last for many years to come. I'll be back for more soon to finish off the house.

The SAME THING as Hunter Douglas with a better price tag!!!!
Got a quote for over $1800 to get Hunter Douglas window treatments installed in my home. What a rip off. Decided to look for window treatments online and found these. Took a chance and ordered for my kids bedrooms to start. They are the SAME EXACT THING as I saw from the HD representative's store. Anyway, my husband installed them and each window took about 10 minutes to install. It was simple! On top of that there are no cords attached and so I don't have to worry about my kids strangling themselves. Also the light-blocking feature is amazing! With the sun going down later, we just lower the shades, turn on their nightlight, and read them to bed. We got 4 of these for about $350 - you can't go wrong with the white ones! Also from the street, they look classy and top notch! Talk about cost of savings for window treatments that are modern, high quality, tranquil colored, light blocking, and an easy install. I highly recommend!
