Q: I have not read Harry Potter, but my grandchildren have. What is the purpose of this map? What age group would appreciate it?

Others covered it's purpose most delightfully and spot on. It's a prop/map used in several of the HP movies and books. It's purpose was to see who was walking about the school grounds at any given time as in a magic foot steps and Identification named of who was walking about. This map of course has no foot prints moving about it's a replicate of the map in book and movie. However as to age group who would appreciate it. I'd say any one who is a fan would love it as a collection item for the older ones and an interactive play item for youngest children. However for the youngest who would PLAY with it it makes more sense to buy the 12 dollar smaller version not as fancy or 6 feet long when unfolded but a great toy version just the same. However do not buy this one for an older child and not the SAME for the younger or the YOUNGER child will NOTE the difference and feel cheated. Yes put yourselves in the childs shoes and see through his eyes for a moment. On the other hand I'd buy this for me in a second and oh sure hubby can have the mini less fancy one he's a HP fan and between us we have 5 college degrees but he'd never appreciate this TOY or collective. He'd see it as a TOY. LOL

Q: Im a little concerned about the mixed ratings.. if i buy this from the noble collection seller.. is this the exact replica? including all flaps & page

No not at all, the replica is full of mistakes and very low quality. And it has missing pages. It is nothing like the real one and is not worth the price. Tho all the other Noble collection artikles are of an good quality and definetly worth it. Just not this one.
