Entertainment for a inquisitive Mind
It’s been decades since I read “Surely Your Joking.” A much younger friend just mentioned the combination safe caper from this book. Dr. Feynman is a legend; I am now inspired to reread his writings. I’m curious to find out if/how the world as we knew it decades ago has changed. Dr. Feynman’s books are a must read for inquisitive minds.

Still as fresh as it was 50+ years ago....a true reference set.
The three volume set makes each individual volume easy to carry around without having to schlepp the extra burden of the other two volumes. The binding and print is excellent and should last an academic lifetime.Although this was compiled as a series of lectures for beginning undergraduate students, it is greatly more detailed and mathematically inclined then pretty much any standard currently used undergraduate general physics textbook-and contains many details that I only encountered as a graduate student in physics or in upper division undergraduate classes such as the 2-semester course purely in E&M.This should be mandatory reading for every graduate student as a way of consolidating their knowledge, but will be a bit overwhelming for all but the most advanced undergraduate students who only are doing a 2-semester physics course to satisfy graduation requirements. One thing that is consistent is the sheer clarity of writing-which is done in a thoroughly engaging fashion that encourages the reader to keep on reading. Feynman was an unparalleled educator with a gift of simplifying the complex. It is true that the material was compiled well over 50 years ago, and will not include the latest developments especially in quantum mechanics. But the quantum mechanics that are represented are still fresh and applicable. Just do not expect to read about the Higgs Particle.

Beautiful and good quality
Beautiful set. A must have for the library if you like physics. Classic!

Fun to read!
Volume 1 does a bit of everything, at an introductory level, meaning a bit of special relativity, a bit of heat (thermodynamics etc.), a bit of probability, quite a bit of mechanics, some waves, etc. (there is even a chapter on vision, which explains the process of how we see). Volume 2 seems to be devoted to electromagnetism, and volume 3 to quantum mechanics. The author is brilliant, needless to say, and is driven by a passion to understand how things work. What I like the most though, personally, is that prof. Feynman does not shy away from the tough questions. Rather, he seems to enjoy these the most.Another nice thing is that these notes have gone through long lists of errata. I am not well placed to talk about how to use these notes pedagogically, by a physicist, since I am not a physicist, myself. However, it seems to me that they are ideal notes for people from scientific disciplines outside physics, but still very mathematical, who want to try to learn undergrad physics by themselves, and build up some physical intuition and knowledge. For instance, I highly recommend these notes for mathematical physicists with a mathematical background. They are quite fun to read!

Pleasantly surprised by print quality.
These books are among my all-time favorite. When I was studying physics in college my dad was kind enough to lend me his original edition of these books. It’s probably not fair to compare the physical quality to books that are fifty years old, but I would rather read out of these than the original (and not just for the sake of preserving the originals). I like that the pages are moderately glossy, so they’re nice to the touch without being annoying to read from, and the print and diagrams read very well. So far these books seem to be some of the highest quality of any book I own, and they don’t feel like they’ll fall apart any time soon. Unfortunately there seems to be a growing trend of poor quality printings, so I’m not sure whether I got lucky or if other reviewers just got very unlucky. The only thing that was amiss with the books I received was that their box has a small crack on the back, but this sits against the wall and doesn’t affect my ability to enjoy reading these books. It seems like there’s always a bit of a risk in purchasing books these days, but if I can help put a few people at ease about this purchase, then maybe they’ll have as much delight as I do in owning and reading this one-of-a-kind box set. (And if you don’t get something that’s great quality, absolutely try to return it for a replacement, if possible.)

Outstanding lectures
I have a very happy husband who received this as a late holiday gift. While he does wish the print was larger, he is enthralled with the content, which starts at the basic level - matter is made of atoms - and goes on from there.

Most important piece of literature for any physicist or aspiring physicist.
Richard Feynman is literally my hero and who I aspire to be more like. Needless to say, the ability to read his intellectual accomplishments of teaching is quite humbling. These books will follow me the rest of my life and be beneficial whenever it's necessary to brush up on any topic of physics.I hope one day I too can leave a work of scientific art that can impact future generations of scientists to come, much like Dr. Feynman did. These books are truly a treasure for any physicist or aspiring physicist that wishes to learn physics from a true master of the field in a way that lets you practically hear his joke cracking voice! (I recommend every other book he has written as well).
