Team Associated 1/12 CR12 4WD Tioga Trail Truck Brushed RTR, ASC40005

This is a very capable chassis that has been around for a few years, first as the Thunder Tiger Toyota truck and Kaiser XS, and now as the Associated Tioga, Ford truck, and Toyota Land Cruiser. The bodies are great scale renditions with front lights as a bonus. 1/12th scale is an excellent in between scale, big enough to handle outdoors, but small enough to be happy in a backyard without the need to go to a park. There are not very many good quality 1/12th scale vehicles from which to choose. This is one of them. But there are three weak links.By far the weakest link is the plastic transmission gears, more specifically the step gear. It will definitely wear out/break prematurely. Fortunately, GPM makes a set of steel transmission gears, available here on Amazon, for the Thunder Tiger Kaiser XS, that are a drop-in replacement for the plastic gears. Unfortunately, working on the transmission is a bit like heart surgery: the hardest part is getting to it. (Tip: When replacing the main transmission gear with the GPM steel gear, attach the driveshafts and the bearings WITHOUT using the two spacer shims found on the plastic gear. If you try to use the two spacer shims, the driveshaft mounting holes will not line up with the holes on the gear shaft.)Another weak link is the plastic shock absorbers. They will begin to leak prematurely. Fortunately there are a number of aftermarket shock absorbers from which to choose. I recommend RCAWD internal spring shocks for their narrow design and neat appearance.The last weak link is the brittle front bumper on the Ford truck and Toyota Land Cruiser. These are nice scale bumpers, but if they bump anything, they are likely to break off a portion. And then you will have a snaggle-tooth bumper. Fortunately, the Tioga front bumper is made of a black nylon material that is much more resistant to breakage. The Tioga front bumper can be used on the Toyota Land Cruiser without trimming the body, and it can be used on the Ford truck with very minor body trimming. It is essential that you always use a front bumper to protect the steering servo arm from frontal impact. (Some reviewers summarily criticize the steering servo, steering geometry, and servo-saver. But I have had no problems with any of these stock parts, as long as you do not keep the suspension fully extended.)With these three weak links corrected, this chassis becomes one of the very best in the 1/12th scale!

Traxxas eat yr heart out lol! Awesome truck! 2 or 3 s lipo compatible, little dude is built tough. My first t/a & very impressed by it! Toiga Runs smooth,soft suspension powerful motor.. good for any age. I'm 45 rc. Keeps you young!!.. this thing will definitely out crawl wlp trucks lmao!! dislikes are plastic drive shafts & gears in transmission., so there's room for hop UPS... buy it.and learn to crawl. or just try to run the furry friend over. It's all good she'll take it. If you got a blue heeler good luck on trying to run him/ her over because I swear the dog should have been a football star.. ! lol! He's my spotter or my co-pilot. If it's too windy I'll grab the wheels if not, I'll pull the plane out to the field with it (excuse me coming through) lmao !!

I have a trx4 and I wanted something a little bit smaller I think I have more fun with the smaller truck than the big one everything is good so far three hard days of crawl in the rocks waiting to see how long these plastic gears last until then the metal ones will sit in my Amazon basket other than that awesome truck can't believe they just didn't put a little bit more effort into making it that much better if they did this would be a very competitive crawler and scale truck if I had the money I would buy two more. Downfall is there's not that many aftermarket parts to find the metal gears you have to look up Thunder Tiger it's a truck that come out a couple years ago but identical to this truck

It says it’s waterproof but it’s not I drove it through a puddle and wet grass the plastic gears that go from motor to gear for drive shafts completely stripped and water damage on gears I’ve only had this for a few months and rarely drive it do to work and when I do I had fun with it now it will not drive it turns on fine but does not go forward nor reverse! Don’t get me wrong it’s an awesome truck when it drives!

Man oh man is this a fun rc crawler well not like I’m an expert at it I’m just a normal guy who wants to have fun and with this thing it doesn’t let me down been running it hard now and still handles whatever I throw at it or put it thru I would so recommend this product to anyone looking to have fun

Its a nice crawler the only thing I would like is a better steering servo other than that it does good on the trails
