My View from the Corner: A Life in Boxing

Great book, very funny and inspirational.
I grew up being a huge boxing fan and was fortunate enough to watch some of the fights mentioned in this book via TV live. Angelo Dundee was a household name in the boxing community and to hear his point of view from the corner allowed me to put many pieces of the puzzle together regarding famous fights and fighter's. Angelo's sense of humor, his life story, and the relationships he established along the way made this the type of book one that I didn't want to end.

Good BUT!
I was slightly disappointed. I knew most of the Ali/Leonard/Foreman facts but I wish Angelo had spent more on his earily fighters like Carmen Basillio! And several others. I wish he had gone into more about the promoters and how they RUINED BOXING periodically. Whether it was MAFIA or Don King or Arum.

Well worth the cost
I've been a fan for most of my life and this is one of the best books I've ever read on the subject I once wrote to the author and as busy as he was he sent me a warm, friendly, personal reply. If you read this book you'll find how well he treated his fighters and everyone he met or was associated with. A Roman Catholic Christian he lived by his faith. He passed on in 2012, a great loss for fighters and fans alike. Maybe the greatest trainer and manager in the history of the sport. Buy the book. It's well worth the price and you'll learn a lot.

Good Boxing Bio
Dundee has seen it all. And he tells all a bout seeing all, in a sanitized version I’m sure, in this well written fast paced recounting of his life and times, and in particular his training of Ali, Leonard and Foreman three legendary fighters of the last fifty years. Highly recommended if you’re a boxing aficionado like myself.

Like listening to grandpa tell stories by a fire
Enjoyed reading about Dundee's experiences from soaking in the world of boxing thanks to being the kid brother of someone in the business to being in Ali's corner to helping Foreman in his comeback bid. He writes with a very sympathetic and positive tone (with the exception of one person who, if Dundee is to be believed, wasn't exactly Mother Teresa). Many a time I felt as though i was Dundee, rooting for his fighters as if I was their trainer and in the arena with them.

A great history from a legend
The insights from what was going on behind the scenes in the Ali and Leonard camps was fantastic. Whether you are a coach or simply a fan, you'll get a lot out of this book. Angelo was a master of knowing who his boxers were and treating them as they needed to be treated to get the best out of them. The sport lost a lot with his passing last year.Great nightstand reading for any boxing fan!

A great story by the man who trained the greatest.
An entertaining and funny story of a man in love with boxers and boxing. The people outside the ring and the whole sweaty grubby world of old boxing gymns . Ali , obviously is a big part and you can see the love they shared , but its not a timeline thankfully he bounces around facets and events of his life as if he was talking with you in a bar ...Easy and fascinating to read.

Brilliant
This book is a must read for any boxing fan. The amount of stories in this book is amazing, Its got funny stories, sad and serious ones about what happened in and out of the ring plus its being told by angelo dundee, who makes reading it more enjoyable. Most of it is about Muhammad Ali(My Favourite) which is a good read, then a good bit about leonard and a decent bit on george foreman. The start is about the man himself which is interesting. So if you've ever wondered what he and other trainers say to their fighters when in trouble, this is the book for you.
