Easy setup and does the job!
Easy to setup. Speed is like a normal hard drive and I have it connected via usbc to my Mac Mini 4 as a shared drive on a 2.5Gbit lan. Not that noisy. I like that fact it is a standalone RAID 5 not dependant on the host machine. For editing I copy the files from the archive first to an SSD or across the network to my laptop. 1GB video takes about 8 seconds to copy across.

Great investment
This product gives you the best of both words. Right now I am using a couple of old disk from my old desktop and fast extra storage for my laptop when I dock it. In the future I can use it if I every need to add extra disks to my QNAP NAS, which is media server for the whole house.

Solid but rather slow DAS with expansion issues.
it's rather slow, great for backup but if you want to use it as some media center storage it's probably better to look for something with better connectivity - it has only 5Gbps single interface. One big disappointment is if you want to expand for instance 3 disk RAID 5 setup to 4 disks it has to be rebuild completely from scratch which means you need to store content somewhere else, add disk and rebuild then copy back. Apart of that it's quite solid piece of hardware.
