Be mindful when purchasing this book that is is what it says it is.....a workbook. Most pages are left blank in the book for you to fill in with your ideas. I personally did not feel that the book was worth the purchase.

You are paying for blank pages
Too many blank practice pages. I have my own journal and our paper for that. Instructions especially for blending could have been been written in a way that was easier to understand

ok
Ok, I have to be honest. I didn't read this book because it required further purchases. I would rather buy other things than waste my time on this.

Don't waste your time!
This book is just a colossal waste of your time and money! Do you know that there are more blank pages in this "workbook" than there are insights, instructions or photos? I certainly didn't know this! If I had wanted a blank journal, I would have purchased a beautiful Strathmore journal with 90 lb. or 140 lb. watercolor paper, which would be perfect for journaling. With so many outstanding mixed media and journal artists working and publishing today, this author would have benefited by including wonderful examples of their work, with specific suggestions and techniques about how to create their luscious pages and collages. The few instructional pages included are dismally amateurish and uninspired. I have bought nearly every collage, art journal and mixed media book offered by Amazon and loved every one of them. That's why I threw away the shipping envelope and receipt before exploring this book. Otherwise I would have most definitely returned it. However, now that I have this lemon, I will make lemonade, shredding every single page to use in my own art. There are so many brilliant, enticing and motivating journal and collage books on the market today. Sadly, this is most assuredly NOT one of them!

Complete waste of money
I totally agree with the previous reviewer! I own every mixed media, art journaling, collage book I can find. I eagerly awaited this books arrival and wow. What a joke! Literally copies of other art journal and mixed media works, on extremely poor paper quality, and more blank pages than art work. Save your money! There are numerous great art journaling books out there. This is not one of them. It's the first book on art journaling I ever returned and this one is heading back tomorrow!

The art journal
I didn't care for this book. I don't like to buy books with blank pages. I prefer to use a workbook with more instructions.

It is a good book but...
as a regular buyer of journalling books I was disappointed to find that I owned most of the books that the chapters were taken from and that there was not much material that I didn't already have inother books. An excellent book if you are totally new to art journalling and want to stART as the title says but not so useful if you already do art journalling and own a collection of books already. Great oncept for beginners.

A little disappointing
There is no doubt that this is a beautiful book and for anyone who loves art journalling it is eye candy. For my liking there are too many blank pages (I have sketch pads and paper for that) and way to many excerpts from other art books which I already have. So while it is a gorgeous book,, it's more of a summary of what is out there and a sketch pad than a book in it;s own right.

Great for a beginner
Easy to use book. Also very good intro if you want to get a young person into journaling as they can work and practise directly into the book.

Ok but not wow!
It is a summary of many book I already have. A LOT of blank pages. I will not do journaling in this book. Not the best buy for me.
