Won’t work in a dental office without it!
I love this saddle stool. I have been using it for over a year now and it has made my day as a dental hygienist so much better. I’m 5’9” and having a stool that lets me sit high enough is really important. I was concerned when I took it out of the box that it didn’t have enough cushion and would be uncomfortable, but I haven’t minded. The thing I like most is that I can get as close to my patient as I need to without worrying the stool is going to ram into the patient chair like I’ve experienced with other styles.I should disclose that I swapped the casters our rollerblade style before I ever used it. I have considered ordering an additional one so I could work out of multiple operatories without having to bring it with me each time I move.

Very comfy - no more numb legs
In addition to arriving right on time as expected, the chair was SUPER easy to assemble... I literally did it in like 5 minutes and the one tool that was required was included ( allen wrench) The directions were cave man status easy. The most complicated step was attaching the seat,,, and that you just put the items just like the diagram says and wallah... Very comfortable. NOTE Important... When the chair comes, the position/ tilt of the chair is not set. You have to find your own setting and tighten down the handle... Super easy process- very intuitive BUT if you did not catch that before you go to sit on it you could flop forward a little until you tighten that down...Not a major factor I actually tried it for a while without it in one set spot ... but I ended up deciding I felt more comfortable set in one tilt position. .As far as using the chair, It takes a tiny bit to get used to the chair in that it is not a standard office chair .. i.e. with my old chair I could just walk in not really looking and plop down... this you gotta make sure the seat is facing the right way... have found myself getting on like I am getting on a horse lol... I suppose with time I will get used to it...Anyway... LOVE LOVE LOVE this chair... If with time I do not feel the same or see issues with it I will update this review 12/14/13... NOTE FYI I am a student so I spend a LOT of time sitting studying... sometimes literally add day so seat comfort is important to me. I had read some of the other reviews that said the chair was uncomfortable... Perhaps if needed they could add a seat cushion of memory foam?? I do not see the need at this point but that is me.... Anyhooo hope my review helps...

I love that I have a great deal of mobility and ...
I love that I have a great deal of mobility and control while using this chair. It's easy to bend down and reach things off the floor. As I'm pretty short, I find that the height of my desk is too tall to reach a positive ergonomical positioning while sitting in a standard chair. If I raise myself high enough to give a 90 degree bend in my elbows, my feet are off the floor. And the opposite is true for when my feet are flat on the floor. With the saddle chair, I can raise myself up high enough to work properly at the desk, yet have the chair tilted enough to keep my feet flat. The tilt can be irritating, however, to try and learn the proper balance of. And when I tighten down the know to keep it from tilting, it still often pops into tilt. (May just be my own lack of strength?)The width of the seat is my biggest irritation. Because I'm small, I find that the width of the seat is uncomfortable for sustained periods. The plus to this is that I'm forced to get up and move around more frequently. The negative is a sore bottom and hips. This works well for my husband, though, who has no problems with the seat width. If I had to change 1 aspect of this product, it would be the ability to choose a narrower seat option.Oh, and don't purchase this product thinking your posture is automatically going to improve. I find I have to make a conscious effort to sit up nice and tall. Slouching is still pretty easy to do.

tilt-able saddle chair with shorter horn
I am a dental hygienist so I was looking for the right saddle chair. I used my co-worker’s chair to try it out and noticed far less upper back pain, but the “horn” was too high and I would bump into my patient’s chair. Not with this chair. I could get up close. The other important feature is you can tilt the seat. My coworker’s chair does not tilt and I would have lower back pain at the end of the day. Not with this chair. I’m very pleased. The cushion was just right. I don’t feel like I need more than what’s provided. The assembly was simple but not easy. It was difficult getting the castor wheels into the base without sliding(both the chair base and my knees). I had to get creative and put silicone potholders under the base and my knee while I had a pillow under my other knee resting on the chair base to keep it steady. 2 out of 5 wheels were difficult to get in. Also the bolts that attach to the bottom of the seat took some time to seat properly and screw in. Once everything was assembled, it was worth it. Now my co-worker is thinking about upgrading her chair to this style.

Back pain gone.
I work as a dental hygienist, but I found that sitting on those flat round operatory stools was causing my lower back to experience quite a bit of pain. I bought this initially just for the price and I love the saddle. For me, it has enough padding without being too much, I sit natural, and my back pain completely went away I also combined this with what are essentially rollerblade wheels/casters for smooth, silent mobility. No longer do I have to do the big hip shift to move sideways. The only downside I have experienced with this chair has to do with the legs. They seem to be longer than needed. I am often catching my heel on it or kicking the legs as I move about the operatory after I’m done sitting. If the legs were an inch and a half or so shorter this chair would get six stars.
