Easy, Slim, and use everyday. However, too slippy, and worried it may break.
I purchased this product as I needed a way to carry around my University notes, and programs without having to carry my laptop everywhere I went. I purchased this product from a high street shop after a recommendation. It is also very slim, so I am able to carry it around in my pocket, and it is like carrying my phone. This makes it easy for me to be able to take my files anywhere I go without any problems. When I purchased the Seagate Backup Plus (SBP), the store advisor informed me that it came with 200GB OneDrive account, which because my university uses Outlook and OneDrive, I thought this would be helpful for me. The SBP also comes standard with USB 3.0, so transfer speeds are brilliant, even for high memory files. When I first connected the SBP into my computer, I found that there was a couple of files already on it. These files were the warranty, program and the link for the OneDrive account. This made it very easy to be able to set everything up and be ready to go straight away. The version I purchased was the 1TB version in black. I am slightly disappointed that the place in which I purchased my SBP, they did not supply any white ones. I like to match my colours, so having to go for a black was a little bit of a disappointment, however this is of course a personal choice, and makes absolutely no impact at all to the product and its brilliance.I use this hard drive every day, both for University and my regular day to day life which needs file transfers. The fact it is capable being used with both PC and Mac is fantastic, as I personally own a PC, but regularly work on a Mac, so being able to use the same device is brilliant. I also, as stated previously can carry this in my pocket without any issues. There are one or two issues which I personally have experienced. Firstly, I find the wire a little 'flimsy'. Because the wire is short, it means I have to have the SBP very close to the computer when I am using it. This is a bit of a problem for me in particular, because I am often using a laptop, which is on my knees and I run programs which save straight to the hard drive, which means I am constantly trying to balance the device in a way not to break the wire. This brings up the issue of the connection from the wire to the actual hard drive. When it is plugged in, it feels weak, and I feel if I pull the wire out too hard, the metal at the end will break off, or if it is moved too far up or down while plugged in, as it does not feel very sturdy. However, in the past two weeks, I have used it everyday, and have not actually had any breakages, especially seeing as I have had a few instances where I thought the connection should have broken. But I still feel it is a little fragile. To improve the device, I would suggest a slightly longer wire, and a connection that feels a little more sturdy. Also, possibly some rubber on the bottom to stop it sliding around, as it is very slippy when on a smooth surface.Overall however, I believe this product is fantastic, and would recommend it. I would not however say that this is the best hard drive which I have seen, but at the price which you are paying it is very very good. Like I say, I use this everyday, and I have had very few problems. The program that comes with it, is good, however isn't mind blowing, as it does very little. If you want a program to manage files I'd suggest some other third party one, even though the Seagate Dashboard Agent is still useful for the few things it can do. I would recommend the Seagate Backup Plus, if you are looking for a small, slim hard drive to carry around easily, and to be used quickly with ease. If you are looking for something with a bit more security, and something a little tougher, it may be an idea, to shop around a look at something a little different. Overall though, I am definately happy with this product.

At long last! Something that works with a smart TV!!
After buying a smart TV the other year it came as a surprise to find that it was not recordable. What?! It's 2017 for goodness sake. After needlessly spending money on memory sticks, it soon became apparent that these would be useless. Giving up hope, I left it for some time before finally trying once again. This time, a well know high street store's helpline advised me what I needed but then failed to deliver. In the end I chose Amazon, having asked the question on a similar device. It arrived a day or so later and I began using it in earnest. Well, after waiting almost two years, I finally found something that recorded freeview programmes on a smart tv. Oh - bring back video recorders! Please!!. Anyway, this device will record from the Philips smart tv but buyer beware in that it only comes with a half metre lead and (on mine anyway) struggles to record two films in a row if they follow each other - because of run ons possibly. Besides that, it records without other problems and in the end I am wholly delighted I can record programmes after all. Also, if you do record a programme, it will not let you watch another but will let you work another input in the meantime. I still believe the 80's technology was far far better and simpler and let you do a lot more. That said, the product suited me for what I needed and I can only provide feedback for the product's use in that direction so hope this has helped other potential buyers with similar concerns.

Set-up instructions are overly complicated for no reason
I'm not an IT buff. I bought this to replace an old hard drive I used for Time Machine backups. The hard drive said its Mac Compatible, but the set-up instructions 'to make it compatible with Mac' are extremely complicated. After plugging in the hard drive I was prompted to download and install software to make it compatible and was prompted to download and install the Seagate Dashboard. I tried to backup using Time Machine and the backup failed due to the drive not being in the correct format. After reading other Customer Reviews online I realised it's better to just ignore ALL the software the setup tells you to install and reformat on disk utility (I have done this before - easy to do just look at previous reviews or google). I uninstalled everything, reformatted the disk and the backup worked as expected. The set-up instructions are overly complicated and I could have saved about 30 mins if they had been clearer. Apart from that it's a good design and seems to be working okay. If it fails on me as I have seen in other reviews then I will update my review accordingly.

Preparation for my computer apocolypse.
As someone who lives on my computer which is now 5 years old and has had MULTIPLE liquids spilt over it I feel like I'm living on the edge a lot. After my knock-off charger (my other one had ran it's course) electrocuted me pretty bad the other day, concerns ran high for how much longer my Macbook may survive. With all of my college and uni work, along with personal projects, freelance work, and every photograph I have EVER taken on my laptop I decided it was time to start backing up. I've had hardrives before whilst at uni and working them until they literally fell apart in my hands. This hard drive is so much better than I imagined a hard drive could be. It's tiny! I could put it in my pocket if I needed to, it looks great, and it works brilliantly. But best of all, now I know when the day does come (and oh it's coming) that my laptop either sets on fire or just damn well gives up on life, I haven't lost my life.Yes, a hard drive isn't the cheapest thing you can buy, but for the piece of mind, I have now it's worth every penny.
