Beautiful lawn and not much work
Cleaned my lawn up from the crap grass. Neighbor was even complimenting my lawn.

Seems to work if you apply it early in the season (it's a pre-emergant)
I applied this to part of my lawn in early April, though I should have done it in early March since it's a pre-emergent herbicide. It's now late June and it's clear this did reduce the amount of crabgrass in my lawn where it was applied. The crabgrass is completely gone from some areas where it had totally taken over. You can see a clear line between where I applied it, and my neighbor did not.Where the crabgrass grew soonest (a really warm area at the south of a building) it didn't work as well, but that was probably because I didn't apply it soon enough. My only complaint, is that the application instructions are for a Scott's applicator, and I had to calculate settings for my spreader.Bottom line... the entire lawn is getting covered next year in March. Be sure to check their website for info on when to apply in your region.

Great Crabgrass Preventer
Works well on my yard. Crabgrass is a difficult weed to combat.

This really prevent crabgrass
This really prevent crabgrass. It is recommended to apply this in the spring April/May to be most effective. I would recommend taking pictures in your yard in the summer so you can remember where exactly the crab grass is at. Then apply the Weedex in those places in the spring so that it is more effective and you waste less. I have also found it prevents other kinds of fall germinating weeds.

Does not work for my needs
Does not kill weeds, just prevent new ones. It says it on the back of the package in small print. I don’t recall reading it on here. I need something serious to kill my crab grass.

Must have
Standard for my yard. I lay this down every couple months to keep my grass here in Texas going as summer starts in

accurate @ 5,000 sq ft
I was particularly concerned about coverage, because these bags are small and the product is not cheap. I've got an old Scotts Accugreen 1000 drop spreader that hasn't always given me consistent performance, but this time I got 5,000 sq ft per bag, as advertised. I first checked the calibration of the spreader's shutoff bar, as described on the Scotts web site. After doing that, I noticed something that I never had before. The "micrometer" on the handle that is used to dial in the numeric setting for each product does not reliably hold that setting on my old machine. Every time that I open and close the shutoff bar using the control lever, as in each time that I reverse direction, the "micrometer" inches a bit looser. A short piece of adhesive tape fixed that. I just happened to apply this pre-emergent weed control under nearly ideal spring conditions, so I won't know its effectiveness for months, but I am hopeful.Update: In 2022 I got good -- not excellent -- results using Scotts WeedEx Prevent with Halts. In 2023, I found what looks like a comparable product, Spectracide Weed Stop plus Crabgrass Preventer for 1/3 less than the price of the Scotts product. Spectracide is not an off-brand. Again, I was able to apply it under nearly ideal spring conditions. By summer, it was clear that Spectracide performed every bit as well as Scotts, which is to say about 85% effective. I spray broadleaf weeds that pop up during the season with Ortho Weed B Gon. I've still got a few woody-stemmed weeds like black medic that seem to resist all chemicals that I put down. I pull these up by hand, which is in itself a gratifying exercise, and I believe that after a few years of this mixed strategy I have mostly gotten ahead of them.

Scotts WeedEx with Halts
This product works great if your lawn gets crabgrass. I usually treat my lawn with this product to prevent crabgrass and later use a weed and feed for the dandelions, etc. I find this combination works the best for my lawn as I have irrigation water and this is the best combination I have found for my lawn.
