I just received the new IUNIO Camping Axe and I am very pleased. Instead of a fixed handle as all of the hatchets I have owned, it uses the tube sections to assemble the make the total 16" handle. You can use it with a shorter sections if you are in a close situation where the full 16" would not work. It also has an emergency flint rod for starting a fire, a whistle, a compass, and a very sharp knife. The knife would be used to make shavings for the sparks from the rod. The axe head is made of steel, and I found it to be very sharp. It has a textured hammer head which could be used to drive tent stakes, etc. I already have the IUNIO shovel which uses the same tube handle. I carry it in my car all the time, and I will be adding this axe next to it in case of trouble. Did I mention that the axe comes with a nylon sheath so you can carry it on your belt. Thanks IUNIO.

It is a very nice axe, I gave it three stars because there are two allen screws holding the head of the axe on and after only using it two times one of the screws came loose and I literally had to stop what I was doing and search for the screw that fell out in the woods. I got lucky and found it, if not would have been interesting. Maybe they were not tightened down during manufacturing but that's on them not me. Also the compass at the base also came off again after two uses. So all in all the axe looks really nice and love all the options but I plan on using this thing and its questionable on how it's going to hold up. Will see but I'm skeptical.**Update** Soon after I submitted this review the company contacted me and explained the process and took responsibilty for the issues I was having with this Axe. They sent me a new Axe and have been very helpful. In my opinion it goes a long way for a company to not only read your reviews but also respond so quickly. I was impressed by their commiment to their product and wanting to satisfy the customer. I am currently testing out the new axe as well as a survival shovel from them. So far impressed with both and the shovel is very sturdy and looking forward to using it on my next camping trip.

I received this a few weeks ago and the axe generally worked well. Despite the given measurements, it was smaller than I expected but that's not the reason for the 4-star.The compass is consistent if not exact, and you may have to compensate for the minor differences if your life depends on it. The whistle works and I assume would work even better in the dead middle of the night in a forested area. I did not test the sharpness of the knife to give it a verdict, but my general impression of it is favourable.The main problem I have with the axe is in it's composite form. When assembled together and used as an axe (cleaned and lightly oiled on the screw threads as instructed), I can feel the various parts loosening. This could have been fixed with a better design, like a small catchment to afix the various parts to each other when assembled. Instead, you may have to learn to adjust your grip and your swing to minimize the loosening, and be always mindful that the parts may come apart when in use. In the end, it's my perspective that it's greatest feature is also its flaw. Reading the reviews, others have mentioned similar observations.On an end note, after using the axe a few times on arm-thick tree branches, I noticed chips on the blade. This, however, may be due to my own fault and, therefore, did not discount it from the eventual rating given.On a side note, I had to contact the seller on a completely different matter on this item that had nothing to do with the quality of the product. I find the seller easy to talk to, fair-minded, and responsive. Most importantly, they read my emails and answer my questions directly, which I could not say the same for many others. At the end of the day, I leave with the favourable impression that this is a seller I can count on, one that would stand by its products, and certainly one that I would purchase from again.

I bought the shovel multi tool like this axe before, and while it was great it did not seem as "emergency" as I would like since it would have to be assembled for use.. The Axe on the other hand can be fully assembled, and since it has a sheath, and is not that big, it can just be thrown in my trunk for whenever I need it.The Axe itself is all metal and feels well built, and everything screws together and feels solid in the hand. They even included some really nice soft/grippy camo tape to wrap around the handles, which greatly increases comfort in the hand. The only issues I have with Axe is with the knife section, the "screw in" part of it is plastic. However, it is more of a back up knife since I already have a better one in my car.Overall I think this Axe is awesome and a perfect fit for my needs. If you are looking for camping axe, or "incase" tool for your car, this can fit the bill.
