sound quality very good but some phones go silent
I'm posting this review on the Uniden and Panasonic items since I bought two of each around the same time. Consumer Reports has very positive recommendations on these phones but they do have issues.I bought a Uniden D1660-2 in Sep 2011. It goes temporarily dead for a minute or minutes at a time which is very disturbing. I also bought a Uniden D1660-3 in Jan 2012 and I don't think I've had this problem, though I've only marked the defective phones in the last couple of months. This problem may have been solved, but to be safe I would recommend buying the 1760 available from Apr 2012 which Amazon says replaces the 1660.I also bought a Panasonic KX-TG6592T cordless/answerer in Oct 2011 and a Panasonic KX-TG6671B corded and cordless/answerer in Jan 2012. I bought the Panasonics for the answering machine, which was easy to use and has excellent sound quality for the outgoing answer and incoming messages. I highly recommend the Panasonic for the answerer alone. I haven't had an answering machine with decent sound quality since my old Code-A-Phone analog/tape answerer which broke long ago. The Panasonic corded phone has top sound quality, the same as my other three quality corded only phones. The Uniden 1660 (cordless) does have very good sound quality, significantly better than any cordless I've ever had, though definitely not up to a good corded phone. The Panasonic cordless is average (much better than a cell phone) but good enough. I'm very fussy about sound quality so this makes Uniden a definite winner for me.The Uniden may be very slow to connect since it takes a while after answering the phone before the other person can hear me. This may also be caused by the Panasonic answerer being slow about releasing the connection to another phone, though another corded phone on the same line will connect immediately. The Panasonic doesn't maintain the high volume setting on the handset. You have to reset the higher volume every time you answer the phone which was a problem for my mother who is hard of hearing. The highest volume on the Panasonic was also distorted and not usable. The Panasonic does have talking caller id which is decent quality.

Glad I found these!
This set replaced two VTech phones that kept failing to dial out. (One was AT&T branded, but was obviously virtually the same phone as the VTech it replaced.) I was saddened to find out that Uniden ceased making cordless phones 4 years ago, but I am thankful to find these. The one minor problem I've had is that the voicemail indicator sometimes doesn't go out; a quick flip through the menu, though, and the indicator is reset.

Round Two
I have had other cordless phones from V-Tech, Panasonic and AT&T. This has been the best one yet. This is my second set, as the first set died after years of drops, slams and abuse from teenagers. I had them for over 5 years. The screen died on one, but only after being dropped in the driveway. These have Great Sound, Great Battery Life, Great Features, and no interference to my home network or from my microwave. Love the speaker phone, alert light, and caller ID. Since I have voice mail from FIOS, I did not need a model with an answering machine....Hope to get years of use out of the new ones too....

Works well, with lots of range
My purpose for this product was to have a phone in my shed, where there is no phone jack. It has worked very well, has a nice strong signal even at the distance from the nearest base station location - at least 30 feet and two walls. It also has way more features than I really need. It appears to be an excellent product, which I would buy from this seller again.

Horrible audio quality
I needed some additional phones for my home and turned to Uniden, as I have some other Uniden models for almost 10 years, and they provide flawless service at a great price. This new 6 Ghz technology seemed interesting, as it would not collide with wifi networks or microwaves.Unfortunately the sound quality is awful, there is a constant shhhhh background noise, (like white noise), reminding me an analogue cordless phone from the 80s. I was going to try and move the phone to a different channel, in case something in my house was causing interferences, but there is no setting on the phone to do this!Do yourself a favor and buy a Uniden phone, but stick to 5.8 Ghz models.

Uniden Comes Through Again
I had a set of Uniden phones for almost 20 years before they finally gave out. I loved them because they offered a flashing light to indicate that I have a voice mail message waiting, that i could easily see upon entering the house. This set offers the same feature. Easy to set up. Looks really nice on side table and bedside table. I purchased a set for downstairs and upstairs.

Disappointed with Uniden. Used to be great phones and well built.
I bought these mid 2012 to replace a great set of Uniden phones. These were with us for many years and after a couple battery swaps I thought it would better and cheaper to buy a new set.Boy that was a mistake. From the start the quality of the speakerphone was not as good as the one it replaced. They we inexpensive so not much to it.After suffering with these for about a year the battery life is so low it's ridiculous. 30's and it is dead. Not acceptable even at this price range. In conclusion: not much to recommend. Not good quality of voice, bad battery life and poor built quality.Unfortunate since the previous ones were so good. Now back to the shopping block.

Very Good Phones for the Price!
I bought these phones to replace some aging existing cordless phones. The set came with 3 handsets and I ordered a 4th. All synced up well. Sound quality is very good both in the handset and on the speakers. The only thing that I don't like is when I try to redial a missed call by just hitting the talk key, the phone doesn't recognize that an out of area long distance call requires a "1" prefix. My old phone somehow knew that. So to return those calls I have to jot down the number and then re-enter it with the long distance prefix. Otherwise a very nice product.
