I was somewhat sceptical about this barbecue, and even more so when I saw the size of the charcoal holder which seemed tiny.But I felt it was worth a try so I first fitted 4 rechargeable AA batteries in the battery box that clips into the base of the barbecue, diligently spread a small amount of fire-lighter gel around the ignition plate, lit the gel and put the charcoal holder on top of the gel complete with the small amount of charcoal that it holds. Turning the fan on full as instructed created a roaring sound and the charcoal started smoking, so I put the cast iron plate on top of the barbecue and set the timer for five minutes. Five minutes later and the charcoal is glowing bright orange and the cooking plate is very hot. I had some sausages, steak ,prawns, mushrooms and pepper ready to cook, and I put the sausages on first as they take longest. It seemed easy to control by putting the food that needed high-heat for a short time in the middle (the prawns and the steak), with the vegetables and sausages further out, and the meal itself was delicious with easily enough room for everything, and even though there isn't much smoke from fat dripping onto the coals, the food still tasted "barbecued".The cooking plate gets seriously hot, especially towards the centre. I turned the fan down to about half way once the charcoal was glowing and two hours later, the cooking plate was still very hot and the charcoal still glowing, although very depleted by that time. The actual plastic sides and bottom of the barbecue remained cold, and although I used an old wooden table to stand the unit on, there was no scorching at all (and no drips from the food cooking either).It cleans up well, the battery and fan unit unclips so it can be cleaned separately, and the bowl is a mirrored finish that washes with just dishwashing liquid and hot water. The cooking plate is the most challenging part (as usual) but is no more difficult than any other barbecue grill. The barbecue fits back into it's zipped and close-fitting bag once it has been washed and dried.Highly recommended.

Good fan assisted bbq, whoever said that the surround was made of cheap plastic and breaks was quite clearly lying because there not...its made of good quality metal......to start it i used just cheap alcohol based hand sanitiser in the ignition base.....and very small bit's off wood and charcoal in the charcoal holder.....just light it and switch the fan to maximum.....takes about ten minutes then start cooking.....mine ran for a couple of hour's no problem at all and kept going after that until it had eventually exhausted it's charcoal....after using this i won't be going back to the old fashioned version.....to clean the residue off the ignition base Mr Mussel !

With the fan assistance the small amount of charcoal burns long and evenly and eventually becomes ash making for easy disposal. Food cooks evenly and quickly. A great bbq ideal for Caravanning!

This was the second example delivered in the last month and both had the same fault.The plastic rim around the main bowl is so frail that in both instances, it arrived broken,I sent the first one back hoping that it was an isolated incident but no, the second was the same.I therefore effected repairs with a Drexel and gorilla tape which has done the trick.I should not have to be doing this though, so I suggest that the importer/seller speaks to the maker and gets this design fault sorted.

Parcel delivered on time but 2 key components missing. The fan box was missing as was the portable carry case.This means that the BBQ is unusable.Asked for a refund which was accepted subject to return of item. Have had to organise and pay for return of item so am further out of pocket. Not a happy customer. I cannot comment on the quality or otherwise of the product as it is unusable.

Exceptional barbecue. Have used it and love the fan system. Haven’t tried reloading with coal but only lasts 20-25 mins on single use.Perfect for 2 people

Bought for our caravan cooks well easy to clean no problems at all
