Good heavy wire cutter?
This product is more properly a heavy duty wire cutter rather than a bolt cutter. It cuts a ten penny common nail easily with 1 hand, and cuts a 16 penny nail with good pressure from two hands. (For comparison: I squeezed my bathroom scales and found that with both hands I can hold the scale at 150 lbs without bounce.) It cuts all types of insulated wire commonly used in houses easily and cleanly. I am unable to use it to cut cattle panel wire. The jaws open wide enough but it would not cut 1/4 inch round material unless it was exceptionally soft. This is a quality wire/nail cutter. It is a very handy size and comfortable to use. The lock mechanism is great. It serves well for most home/hobby wire cutting needs and will last most non-commercial users decades. If you need a wire cutter buy it. It is a good value.

Likely the best bolt cutter I've owned in my lifetime.
Bluntly put, up until last week I had not had much experience with bolt cutters and knew limited information about them as well. Knipex certainly is the the number one company to purchase mini bolt cutters that are 8 inches as well. Wow, these Knipex bolt cutters are terrific and are also 100% made in Germany as well. I've cut several types of screws with this and I even have cut a wide variety of metal with as well. Nothing too thick, but they did an exceptional job. I really like the fact that the cuts are even virtually every time. Provided though one uses these bolt cutters at an 90 degree angle precisely. Essentially you want to make the object your cutting as even as possible. Also what a difference a spring provides instead no spring attached. Not only has this provided a much easier time cutting multiple items repeatively, however this also provides better control in when cutting smaller items. Additionally, with a spring attachment there also in this case is a means of locking this tool when not in use and or for safety reasons as well. The handle is comfortable to use as well, even after extended usage as well. Should your grip be compromised, the handle ultillizes a non slip material as well. This is a fantastic mini bolt cutter and while this may cost more than your average mini bolt cutter, I am fairly certain this tool could easily last an exceptionally long time and Knipex has a life time warranty on most their tools as well. This tool is no exception to that warranty either. Overall, I do highly recommend this product and would and have already recommended this tool to anyone.

Outstanding Product For Trimming Cabinet Hardware
I bought the Knipex cutters to trim the bolts on about 50 cabinet knobs I was installing. I researched the various tools out there to make my life easier and found just the right one. For trimming cabinet bolts don't look any further, the nomenclature of the various models are confusing but these are what you want. Yes, they are over $50 but they are so far removed from the ubiquitous Chinese use once and throw away type of tool that $50 does not seem at all unreasonable, they are awesome. Honestly, these cutters would last a professional installer many years of daily use. For home use they should last pretty much forever. I have enough hand strength to cut cabinet hardware with 8" wire cutters or end cuts but it is not at all enjoyable, especially for the amount of knobs I needed to do. I am happy to report that the Knipex cutters will allow most anyone to cut thick wire and small bolts with ease. My wife gave it a try on some cabinet harware also and had no problem. This is the first Knipex product I have purchased but the quality of these cutters is so outstanding I will now seek out other Knipex tools when I need something special, or a tool to keep for the ages.

The Knipex are great, but for 30% to 50% less, I personally think the Fujiya pair is better...
These are usually knipex quality and beautiful German made bolt cutters. The spring and lock work great and operate smoothly. The edges are sharp and cut cleanly, and the comfort grip is comfortable as well. However, for about 1/2 the price (if ordering directly from Amazon Japan), or about 30% less if ordering from a US seller, you can get the comparable Fujiya bolt cutters. The fujiya pair is also spring loaded with a lock, and are made in Japan. They are also very very highly quality Japanese made bolt cutters with a comfortable comfort grip as well. In my opinion, and as someone who owns and has used both, I personally believe thar the Fujiya pair is better. They cut cleaner, are easier to cut, the leverage is stronger, and are 30% to 50% (depending on where you purchase them) less than the Knipex pair. They are both high quality, great bolt cutters, but in my opinion, the Fujiya pair takes the win!

A little beast
It cuts everything like butter from nail, wire to paper as long as they fit into the jaws.
