I did fix my antenna with this. I can finally use my 102” whip.

Manufactured well....unless you specifically want the slot screw one they I would get the the hex screw one instead. Accepts large gauge whips.

I’m a ham and I love to make antenna’s. What surprised me about this mount is the inner diameter hole is much bigger than expected, about 1/4”. This was a pleasant surprise because it gives you more options than the standard thin gauge stainless steel whips you see on magnet mount antennas. With this thing, I can take a stock fender mounted car radio antenna, cut the bottom off and insert that antenna into this mount. Then it’s just a matter of tuning for resonance on any band above say 125 MHz. So 2m, MURS, marine frequencies, 220, 440, FRS/GMRS, etc., are all possibilities with a standard car antenna. You can even take a 102” stainless steel whip for the CB band and cut it down for the 6m ham band using this mount. Such a antenna would be around 55” long and I wouldn’t go any longer than that for a mobile application using this mount.

It isn't specified, but this device is for larger 4-5mm diameter whips. Smaller whips will not fit, the set screws are offset at 180 degrees, so using a smaller whip will result in a loose fit. It will also allow lots of water ingress and will eventually lead to corrosion. The one I received has slotted setscrews. You can tap out the opening to 1/4 threads.

Using screw heads to tighten the whip ,not good, if I known that I wouldn't of bought it ( Junk ) you get one time , I thank it is tight and the head of the screw head is destroyed

well made and it has two set screws to secure the whip in place. I would have liked to receive the washer too, but no big deal.

Great to have. Can easily build 6m to 70cm antenna on the fly.
