Working great!Tracks generator time perfectly.
I use this on my Honda generator to track time between oil changes. It was easy to install and does the job well.

Working well so far…
Installed on Vulcan welder/generator with Predator 420cc single cylinder 4 stroke. Take time to wrap the plug wire carefully and read instructions to get the correct RPM setup. This 1 cylinder motor needed the tach set to “2 cylinder” to get correct reading. Works great so far.

Works well. Note my installation comment.
Works well. Don’t wrap the wire around the spark plug, it will melt the tach wire. Wrap it around the wire a short distance from the spark plug. Worth it had a replaceable battery.

Provides clear RPM and hours-in-use values on a Crafstman LT2000 riding mower
I bought this to ensure the engine RPM remained within a valid range after I replaced the carburetor. Being able to confirm the engine RPM is reassuring, and the Cumulative Hours of Operation and Hours Countdown Before Scheduled Maintenance features are an added bonus. I am very pleased with this product. The written installation and setup steps were good enough. I took care to wrap the wire tightly around the ignition cable 5 times, keeping it secure with the included zip ties. It takes some care (and more zip ties) to keep the wire away from direct contact with the engine or muffler. I found a place on the dash to stick the meter on using the included double-stick foam tape.Initially I set the mode to 1P2R (1 spark Pulse per 2 Revolutions), but that gave me RPM readings of 6400 at full throttle. So I switched the mode to 1P1R and started getting normal readings of 3200 or so at full throttle.

I love this tach/hour meter - mostly
Update after a week of use: downgraded due to reliability. The unit does not hold the preset for my engine so the rpm reading is doubled and not accurate. It can be reset but that is a nuisance during use. Disappointing.Great price and good quality except for the wire to wrap around the spark plug wire as a pickup. It’s not stiff enough to stay in place. Mickey Moused the install with two wire ties to keep it on the plug wire. That shouldn’t be necessary. It seems to work well with good instructions to program for my engine a 14 HP Kawasaki on a brush cutter

NOT FOR SETTING Accurate RPMs
I ordered this Digital Tachometer to be able to set the RPM to Engine specifications on my pressure washer. Instructions on the descriptions at Amazon paint a much easier picture of the process.1- It instructs to wind the lead wire about 5 times around the Spark plug lead. However, per the instructions if your Engine is a 4 Stroke, it is required to wrap the lead wire of the Tachometer around the Head of the Magneto????? I would have to take my entire machine apart (Gas tank, Muffler, heat shields, etc.) to be able to get to the Magneto. NOT EASY as Depicted in description.2- This is the misleading part: The instructions tell you that if the RPMs are reading Too High, to unwind the tachometer wire to less turns. And if RPMs are reading Too Low, to increase the number of turns of the Tachometer wire around the Magneto Head or Spark Plug wire as it may be the case of your Engine. So, unless you already know what the RPM is on your Engine, there is no way of knowing how many times to wrap the lead wire to get an accurate RPM reading. The way I see it, you would first need to adjust the RPM by some other means so you can calibrate this Tachometer to display the right RPMs.What a disappointment.....I returned.
