There were black dots in the glazing, but honestly they were too small to use as chargers.

I love these plates! They make every meal look like it's professionally plated and served in a restaurant. Good value, too. I only gave it 4 stars because two plates were broken when the box arrived and Amazon wouldn't/couldn't replace them. They offered me a small credit instead. I would rather have the plates!

Fabulous plates. I own a dozen Apilco 12 inch plates. I was seeking to increase my number of plates so that I could host a large Thanksgiving dinner. At $95 EACH the Apilcos are way out of my price range (they weren't so expensive when I bought them years ago). After searching high and low for 12 inch plates, I found these. They are much heavier than the Apilcos but look fine right next to them. One really can't tell the difference as the are the same bright white color, the rims are the same width. These are much thicker but one doesn't notice this once the table is set. Like all 12 inch plates, these won't fit in most dishwashers and maybe not even in the kitchen sinks of most people (mine included). The bottom rim is rough from the kiln, not smooth like my other dishes. When stacked these plates will likely scratch each other. I store them with a thin paper plate or a paper towel between them to prevent this. To close, these are very nice plates at a terrific price. I highly recommend them.

Two broken plates, for which Amazon immediately gave a partial refund - good customer service! The color is a very grey tan, not at all the off-white pictured. But for the price, they are a remarkable value, even with the 2 broken ones.

I was in the market for commercial grade service plates. I bought these and didn't pay attention to the size. When they came I was initially disappointed, but they are absolutely the perfect size. (most restaurant plates are 11-14") I bought in green and have open shelving in my kitchen and get compliments every time someone walks by. I love dinner service mash-ups of color so I paired these with turquoise bowls and light green depression glass dessert plates. They make a fabulous display in my cupboard. They are extremely durable (albeit a bit on the heavy side) and very affordable. Very highly recommend. One word of advice. If you buy these with prime and think you are going to return them, be careful because it will cost you almost as much to return as the plates themselves.

Although I will keep them, I was disappointed. Here's the good: these plates are heavy and I'm pretty sure will last a lifetime or two. I ordered the 9" to replace my old porcelain plates that have been brutalized by my lovely husband...these will surely survive his man hands. They are indeed 9" plates, so that was good as well. The bad (for me): The description said these are "super white" and they are not. They are more of a light grey actually. I'm uploading a side-by-side picture and hope you can see the difference in the plate color once it's uploaded. My old plate is on the right side. That said, if you don't need or don't care if the plates are super white...these are nice, heavy plates that will be able to take a beating. lol

Outstanding quality and value! The 12 plates arrived quickly and in perfect condition. The color is a true, beautiful yellow as described. I have been using them daily and couldn't be happier with the stoneware durability. I couldn't be more pleased with the product and price. I highly recommend these plates, both quality and value.
