Excellent!
This trekking pole by Himal is Fantastic! I got it as a late Father's day gift for my Father-in-Law and it is perfect for him.He had been asking for a cane or walking stick to use on his daily walking trips .I looked for canes but it was not really what he needed, which is just a little support to help him keep his balance. The handle is cushioned but has an amazing grip so it wont slip out of your hand. The pole snaps in place swiftly and perfectly in just a few seconds and folds up just as fast.It has a great support tip and even came with extra replacement parts as well as a handy storage case.It is very light but extremely sturdy and durable ! It is a perfect walking companion! Highly recommended! An excellent gift!* I was given a discounted price on this item for giving my honest feedback on the product. I am VERY pleased with this purchase and will be buying another one for myself! *

Excellent light-weight poles (if not perfect)
Wasn't sure about these but at the price decided to try them. Great things about them...1) they fold simply & easily into a handy pack-size 2) they are a good weight, less than a pair of Nordic poles, and don't wear you out using them over time 3) very good cork handles which make it a lot easier to handle them & not lose your grip 4) they are very sturdy, at at least at my weight & height (5'8" & 170 lbs) have absolutely no "give" when putting pressure on the pole 5) titanium spike provides steady footing, even over rock. Only thing they are not good at is maneuvering across mud or compacted leaves, because the tip tends to get stuck, causing the shock-cord assembly to partly slip...that is, one or more links in the pole will come disconnected...until you give it a shove on something more firm, at which point it pulls itself back together....I used them over three days of rocky trail with constant need to brace going uphill & down...if you get them they will provide light-weight, affordable, and convenient (if not perfect) help to your adventure...

Very much satisfied!
Have just started using after my second knee replacement. My gait is much more even using the poles and I'm looking toward really being able to take walks again. I've just turned 70 and suggest the use of trekking poles for anyone trying to getoving again. These are well made for more ambitious hokers, too. One warning, if you are short. They don t quite lower enough for the "handshake" position described in the instructions as I am 5'2", but close enough for my use.

The quality of this product is far better than what is found in retails stores around for the same price. Bought two of them.Used it for hiking on the Davis Mountains and Big Bend National Park in Texas. Easy to setup and stow. It did the job and it appears very durable. It doesn't bend or arch when applying my weight on it. The cam lock to adjust the upper section is made of plastic and held the pressure. I hope it lasts but if it doesn't, I'll make an aluminum cam for it.

Not quite right for 5'4 woman
Wanted to love this pole. It has many of the features I was looking for such as being small, compact, and light weight with sweat absorbing grip. Love the bag it comes in! The problems for me are that at 5'4, the pole is just a tad too tall at smallest height setting and the straps are too big even when tightened all the way. If I rest my hand fully in the strap, my hand falls too low on the grip. The price is so good that I would definitely keep this pole (even though it's a tad too tall) if I could tighten the strap more. That's a deal breaker though. I'll be returning it.

Excellent for my hike at Half Dome!
Excellent poles. I used this on a recent hiking trip to Half Dome, Yosemite. Its a 17 mile, 5000 feet elevation gain hike on rocky terrain. This pole handled it just fine. I really relied on it especially on the way back down to the Mist Trail when my legs gave out on me. I resembled Gandolf leaning against his staff while fighting Sauron. Unlike other cheaper poles, these don't telescope inward (collapse) when pushing down on the poles with a great amount of force.

came in very handy for my 8 hour Machu Picchu hike..
Bought two of these recently. Opened fresh out of package just before I started the Machu Picchu hike at 104 Km (2-day/1-night). used extensively during the 7.5 hour hike. Came in very handy.. provided great support.. sometimes I put my almost full weight on these.. Overall they were great. I am not sure how long the plastic hook lasts. But they worked fine for me in this hike..

Found it helpful and well enough made for a 6ft.2 man weighing 180lbs.
I recently used this pole hiking in the Grand Canyon and while Rafting the full length of the Colorado through the canyon I experience several different topographical trails and this pole withstood the abuse I gave it. Only one issue was the way the Nylon hand strap was manufactured and how it rubbed on bare wrists and that was easily remedied with a pair of nail clippers.
